I’m not sure. They just offered me $73k (which is like $77k after sales tax savings). 4600 miles, 2023 Ultra Red with white interior and 22” wheels. I’ll try to get $83k privately until delivery day comes

I will hang onto the X until I feel all the minor issues are cleaned up on the truck and then might sell the X. I do plan on using the truck as a truck not just a cool truck.

I was planning to do the same, but after the recent price drops I want out as fast as possible. Owning it will probably cost me $1-2k in depreciation a month

From the install video as attached, I see metal shavings while being drilled from the decorative pedal being shown, but no black plastic shavings from the actual pedal mechanism. Leads to believe the pop rivet is not doing what it's suppose to be held securely. If an individual that had this procedure done, and a photo shown whats being done behind the pedal can be shown would defunk my questionable suggestion. Please help us all.

Good catch!

It's amazing that not a single Tesla Engineer that was involved or any of the Service Centers that have implemented the fix caught that.

Or maybe you are trying to create a conspiracy theory?

See example of drilling thru aluminum and plastic plate stock. (Did this three times, same results shavings from aluminum and plastic)

Whats holding that rivet.jpg

They're drilling much lower than the three holes on the back.

The jig clamps he front and back, and the plastic on the pedal. doesn't look thick enough to produce a long burr.

Most importantly if there was no pass through the black plastic the pop rivet wouldn't enter the pedal.

Yep I put a one rivet in my mailbox to hold the hinge to the door, and it already broke off just by checking the mail on a daily basis.

That’s not millions of presses and depresses on an accelerator pedal?!
The rivet on the pedal isn't a moving part.

I don't see how this is at all the same as your poorly installed rivet in your mailbox pivot.

I would be a lot more impressed if they showed him cleaning up all does metal shavings.
Which if you look at the Service Bulletin is specifically called out as a requirement of installation. It probably takes more time to vacuum the pieces than the installation.

I read that somebody on the assembly line got the idea that the pedal cover would be easier to install if they rubbed some soap in the grooves. Unfortunately the soap kept the adhesive from properly bonding. Not sure if that's accurate but it makes sense.
