Guys. I am pretty bummed. The cancellation happened on Friday around 6 or so. I was scheduled to pick up the next day at 2:30 pm. I have been the butt of a lot of jokes in my family since 2019 when I signed up for two of these trucks. My son was diagnosed with cancer in 2021. We literally lived at st. Jude for 6 months. Those months were awful. All though the rounds of chemo we would talk about the cybertruck and what it would be like when it finally arrived. It was a wonderful distraction and gave us hope for better days when we didn't have a lot of hope. Jacksons physician assistant at st. Jude had been a patient with cancer when she was ten. She was his hero. He was the first patient to figure out that she had been selected to go to space on inspiration 4. We watched her prep for the mission and felt so connected to SpaceX and Elon musk and the crew of the inspiration 4. If you have a few hours watch the series on Netflix called inspiration 4 and you can even see video of my son when his physician assistant made a WebEx call to him and a few other patients from space. Elon raised over half a billion dollars for st. Jude. No one tells about what an amazing gift that was. I have never heard him brag about it. He is my hero. When the word came that the truck had less battery range and an almost doubled price tag. I was scared. Despite having a successful business I was on the hook for a truck that cost 3x as much as my first house. I thought about cancelling the order .. but I just didn't think it seemed fair to Elon. I watch the news at night and find myself literally clenching my fists over how poorly he gets treated by the media... He invested in st. Jude. He gave all those children so much hope. My son actually wanted to make a visit with Elon his make a wish dream but thought Elon was way to busy to take time to meet with him. Finally supposed to pick up my cyber truck in Kansas city tomorrow. Just got a call that there was a recall on the truck. Came in about 15 minutes ago per the person who called me. They stated that there was a problem with the accelerator and that they would know on Monday how soon parts would arrive to fix it. If this is a practical joke from a friend of mine.... It is perfect. I was so excited to finally get my cyber truck. Now just broken hearted. Argh.
December came and I got the text. Time to configure. I swallowed hard, typed my credit card number and was told I was within 90 days of getting my truck. And then nothing. No hey we are close, no hey we are having some technical difficulties as we finalize the most technically advanced truck ever... Nothing. As a new Tesla owner I had no idea of this was normal or standard for a Tesla... I reached out to you guys and learned I was not alone.... I now volunteer in Memphis at st. Jude. I have several days of volunteer activities scheduled for the 24th of April. I tried to text via the app to try and find out when I could expect my magic truck. I finally got a customer service manager who said I could expect it the last few weeks of April or the first few weeks of May. I gave up on my dream of bring the truck to campus and letting kiddos get their pictures taking in this amazing new truck. And then out of the view I got a notice that my truck would be ready on the 12th of April! Amazing! I rushed to get insurance on this vehicle. I decided to simplify the buying process by paying cash for this vehicle. I told no one. I knew from past experience that this truck was subject to delay. And then the 11th came. I was literally supposed to pick up the truck the next day. I let a few of my kiddos parents know I was bring them a surprise. Some have been fighting cancer at st. Jude since before we arrived in 2021 and were still there fighting for their lives. And then I got the notice my delivery was cancelled. Crap. I was not mad. I was sad, I was disappointed... But there was still a chance the truck would arrive in time. The person who called me had no answers. Just knew it would not be ready tomorrow. But don't worry Monday we should get some answers on when it will be available. Monday came. No answers. In the evening I gave in and texted through the app asking about updates. No updates. All they could tell me was that I would not know anything until after the 20th. Ok. Does that mean we will find out on the 20th that it will be ready on the 20th or that it won't be ready until June or July. Their response was shrill. We told you we won't know until the 20th. Others have reported online it will be the 23rd. I have a five hour drive to Memphis to make on the 24th. I have to pick up the truck in KC three hours in the wrong direction. I have paid for the truck in full. I am paying for the insurance on the truck. It would be nice if someone in authority could call and offer a little bit of an overview of what is going on so I can plan. I also run a business that is having to pay for this amazing truck.... Am I mad at Tesla? Heck no. I have loved this company for many years. I have been a shareholder for many years. I found out from this site that my loyalty could have gotten me a better pickup date, but because I got all my information from the app I never heard about the program until it was already expired. I really don't care when I get the truck at this point. I just would like the courtesy of someone understanding how frustrating this has been who could tell me if there is a chance I can meet my deadline.... So I can manage expectations....
