The issues are piling up…

So, I had a good friend over the other day and he had heard about all of the “CT issues” in the media from rusting to the accelerator pedal…I said “how bout we just go for a drive first and then we can talk…”after the drive he said, “that thing is freakin amazing…”no more discussion about “CT issues.”

This reaction from people actual experiencing it , is very common!

I’m starting to get a little frustrated with the problems I’m having with the Cybertruck. Yes, I know this comes along with being one of the first ones off the production ramp but the service response time is slowing down (probably because of the pedal issue taking precedent)

It started with an imperfection on my windshield that caused there to be a long line on my line of sight. They replaced my windshield but I think something happened to the top gear selector panel. It dropped down and won’t stay back up.

Next, my tailgate won’t open. This happened once before but I was able to keep trying and eventually it opened. This time, it’s not working.

Also, when I turn left or right, there are loud creaks coming from the bottom of the center console. I put foam underneath and this worked for a few days. Now it’s even louder.

I’m waiting to hear a response from the service center for a week now.

Oh and I got the rivet installed in my pedal at Cybertruck Takeover an it does not look like it’s installed in the proper place. The guy said they are all like this but later at home I saw that mine was the only one on right on the edge. I’ve added this to my service ticket as well.

Bottom line with virtually all of these "issues" is that they don't add up to much. Check out the Munro Assoc "body on frame" analysis of the Rivian R1T and compare that to Tesla's giga casting exoskeleton approach. Clearly the Cybertruck is structurally superior to virtually any other truck, BEV or ICE. All the whining about the SS finish, small Frunk etc is annoying because these were all known to buyers. The little stuff like the accelerator pedal which made front page news, affected the first 7800 units and has already been resolved by adding 1 screw to secure the pedal cover to the pedal.

No question later builds will be enhanced but it will be done incrementally and quickly. This has been the case with all the Tesla Models. They don't wait a year or two to implement improvements and most of what they do is via software updates that are called "recalls" by NHTSA.

Tesla has shown the auto industry how to make BEV's efficiently with great quality where it counts (SAFETY). Big auto's response thus far is to slow down their BEV production while they try and figure out how to make BEV's at scale and for a profit. IMO, they can't because they lack creativity and cannot move fast enough. Game over man ...

"Venting" of ones feelings is fine. But exaggerations and hyperbole should be challenged, lest they be repeated as fact.

@Crissa That's not really a fair thing to say. You're in sunny California, @Cybertruck2024 is in Buffalo New York where they salt the roads and additional maintenance is suggested.

Brake maintenance is actually more difficult for EVs that use heavy regen because the surface of the brakes are not regularly scoured, which encourages aging. In other words, that salt is even worse on EVs if you don't do heavy braking regularly.

This isnt an airport you dont need to announce your departure Barbara.

I still have 7 more years to change drive train, but even without that, regular Porsche service is ridiculously expensive. I’m getting mixed messages from Tesla owners saying Test servicing is equally expensive. IDK ?‍

I would like to formally invite any and all of the approximately 6,000-8,000 early deliveries to vent right here! Let it all hang out, right down to the last water spot that delivery prep missed or feeling slighted that your delivery didn't have smoke machines and lasers! Include serious problems too, like blown motors, failed transmissions, leaking oil or coolant, shaking and vibration, blown shock absorbers or non-functional ride height adjustments, tires with embedded punctures, dents and cracked glass, whatever it may be.

Please, vent away, I didn't know we were stopping any of the more sheepish ones! We want to hear it all, the bad, the ugly and the beyond ugly!

That's FUD. The cost of Porsche repairs is in another realm!

Phew! That’s a relief to hear. I’m done with Porsche maintenance. I asked Tesla to quote the trade-in value. They quoted a ridiculous $17K for 2018 Cayenne. Can you believe it? Apparently I’m paying $5K per year to maintain a $17K worth Porsche. Even the Tesla rep was shocked. He told me to go sell it somewhere else. ?

Cyber owner since March. I have a list of issues so far.

- Pedal recall as we all know
- Safety restraint system fault message daily
- Awful sound from rear when steering
- SS trim/ panels falling off
- very poor braking at hwy speeds
- suction cup marking on door

These are the issues I’ve had in the month of ownership.

• No rust spots
• No weird mechanical noises
• Panel alignment is fine
• No OS warning signs
• Rear doors open the full 90 degrees
• Door latches work
• Windows work
• Tonneau works
• etc. etc. etc.

"My rusty CT blows up daily and leaks motor oil in my driveway. I get stuck in 1" of snow every week or so, and only a Ford F-150 can pull me out. The range is a paltry 96 miles and only 13 miles when towing. Why, just the other day, I had to take it in for 37 serious safety recalls! It's a rickety death trap. Sell your TE$LA now!"

The issues that keep piling up do concern me even though outside the pedal issue they haven't happened to us.

I really worry about things failing in 12-18 months right when my 4/50k warranty expires due to high miles. Usually these items have fixes that are service bulletin related, but sometimes it is up to the first adopter to find out. Very rarely does Tesla retro a out of pocket cost for something fixed later. It does happen however.

With Tesla I always got the extended warranty. Made all the difference down the line.

Correct! For those who never had a Tesla one thing that you will find is that overtime it will be the lowest cost vehicle from a maintenance perspective you will never deal with. I had an early model X, which everyone complained about. Over six years of ownership of the X, I only paid out-of-pocket for a set of wiper blades, two sets of tires, and two alignments. I am a rancher with multiple ice vehicles as well as farm equipment, having a car like a Tesla absolutely blew my mind on how little I had to deal with it during its life with me. With an extended warranty in the back half of my experience and Tesla service they always went above and beyond in solving issues that have come up, I just sold that vehicle and look back on it as the best car I’ve ever owned and I’m looking forward to picking up my truck next Wednesday. I have the upmost confidence that I will have the same experience. The rest of the fleet on the ranch is on notice….ice is a pain in the backside. Cost of extended warranty does not come even close annual ice maintenance. electric is the future.
