I attempted the ā€œschedule light bar installā€ service trick even though I hadn’t received an email for my VIN (lower Beast VIN).

While that didn’t work, my SC said that I’d want to wait for a redesigned lightbar. As we all know, current version is glued to top of front windshield. Problem is that if windshield ever requires replacing, then lightbar would have to be replaced too.

SC stated a redesigned version is being developed that would be use brackets to attached lightbar to CT instead. I’d rather have this with hope that redesign includes color LEDs option. ?

SIAP but I didn’t find discussion of this change. Anyone else hear similar? Maybe reason for slow rollout?

I just got the glued on one... I was wondering the same. Fingers crossed the windshield won't need to be replaced. So far the angle has been great in just having everything glide over the windshield.

Do you notice any increased wind noise with the light bar on?

I got mine installed on 12/24/24, and by 12/28/24 the thing blew off in the wind while I was on the interstate going 75 mph with FSD activate. It took off part of the right panel as well on top of passager door. Have a new on scheduled for 1/30/25. Hopefully it will be a better job

Where did you have it installed?
I just had mine installed last Monday and already its been through highway speeds and ice and snow as well as an accidental auto car wash (a local touchless wash upgraded and I wasn’t aware until 3/4 into the wash bay that it now had automated brushes!) but survived as I was very concerned something would catch and tear it along with the sail appliquĆ© on the A pillar to B pillar areas.
I too was concerned if the windshield ever needs replaced, what happens to my lightbar being that it is glued to he actual glass area.

Mine operates great and it was apparently the first one in the Harrisburg PA area they had installed at that point. I didn’t even have to attach the harness in the RH B pillar camera appliquĆ© as everything was done in service. Only had to remove the security tape covering from the actual lightbar then activate the roof outlets in the GUI.

I think you could get the lightbar off with some wire pulled thru the adhesive as they do with window replacement. Perhaps the adhesive could be peeled off or dissolved with a solvent.

I had it installed in Houston, TX. I’m guessing the installer at Tesla didn’t do a great job, but I have another appointment scheduled for the end month to replace it and the pilar.

Interesting. I definitely notice the added drag .

Plus my 4 crossbars I’m easily losing 10%+ range

Would be awesome if there is a new version coming

I’ve heard this from a few ppl now on here

Cypress SC is where I was told about redesign. They had only performed 1 install (of original adhesive version) prior to that conversion. Maybe you’ll get additional info on redesign when you go for your repair?
