Tesla Offered to Cancel Current Lease but Must order a CYBERTRUCK. Anyone Done this?

Hey all...

I lease a model Y right now and I received a notification that I can return my lease (12 months left) if I get a non foundation Cybertruck right now. I filled everything out and am just waiting on Vin and Delivery Date.

I reached out to my local Tesla Dealership in Reno Nevada and wanted to know if they had more info on the lease return process and they basically told me they have never heard of TESLA allowing this process for anyone.

Has anyone gotten a similar notification before? Right now my app shows I am waiting for a tesla Cybertruck and my lease will be accepted early.

You basically get the Cybertruck at a discount and go from a Flease to a purchase. There’s nothing bad about this, seems like a giant win given you’re not allowed to buyout the Model Y so you basically win here in every sense of the imagination as you can take delivery of the CT and sell it if you wanted to.

I agree with you! The issue is is that it sounds really too good to be true. I am not sure if they tac on any fees. Basically they are saying they cant show me any numbers until I receive my vin and date. I was hoping someone had gone through this with Tesla.

I have the same offer and it says to Confirm on the bottom. Kind of hesitant to confirm as I dont what will they charge for returning my model Y with year left. I was hoping it would be more like a car swap and I get into the Cybertruck.

Any update on your end?

I got the offer and the cybertruck came in. Did all the lease return stuff and that day they wanted $16000 out of nowhere. They stated that they cant seem to find that offer anymore and if I wanted to Cybertruck I would need to buy it outright but the lease for my tesla Y would still be active. So I told them to suck it and Ill be getting a Rivian in October.

From my personal experience, Tesla requires an existing order and a lease within 90 days of maturity to forgive early termination. They offer a $500 credit for wear and tear, waive return fees, and cancel remaining payments.

Note: I couldn’t find this policy online, but multiple Tesla employees confirmed it at showrooms and delivery centers.

You will be returning the Rivian for a loss within 6 months of purchase. It’s not the same..

naw. Tesla customer service is crap. But I also forgot this group is just a cybertruck and Tesla fan page. What a weird comment that has nothing to do with the convo.

Unbelievable, what a scam! Only thing I like from Tesla is the FSD. Im thinking other brands too.
