You still have a gap there . My understanding that gap shouldn’t be there .
did they put on the new sealed appliqué ?

Mine (VIN 52xxx) looks exactly like your ‘before’ pic, where you can see the holes in the aluminum piece. What did you say in the service appointment request to get them to add that extra slat?

I took mine through the car wash once and it was basically fine (just a few drops of water on the wall below the rear window). But, mine is only 3.5 weeks old so maybe that’s why…

I have a service appointment on Jan 7 and wondering if I should add this to the list…even though I’m not having any issues at the moment.

Took mine in for leaking and the gap. They took care of the leaking by replacing an appliqué seal, but didn’t take care of the gap. Tonneau doesn’t leak though. <knocks on wood> If it continues to not leak, I’m not going to bother with the gap.

I agree . If it’s good no need to have the extra slat installed

Tesla CS summarized what I wrote, but this is what was listed on the invoice. Concern: Customer states: Other · Exterior - Tonneau cover looks to be misaligned with a large gap that allows a large amount of water into the truck bed.

As far as my SC and my own observations go, the gap is now standard on all CTs.

Some SCs are still adding a slat, but many are telling people it's normal because all new CTs are being delivered this way. My SC said that all they've seen after around May have this exposed.

I can attest that doing a proper seal almost eliminates water intrusion so the holes don't really matter.

I saw this before but didn’t lol at it carefully since I don’t have any major leaks in my bed. However, I do have the gap between the last slat and the appliqué.

If I’m reading the service manual correctly, the FRT time is 1.20 (1 hr 12 mins) to do this job. I’m going to add it to my existing service appointment. Doesn’t sound like this will cause them to have to keep my truck overnight.

Just wanted to post it here in case someone else has this problem.

I had a big gap at the top of the cover so you could actually see the riverts. Tesla fixed it under warranty. Attaching the pictures and invoice details.
Same here. I got mine done 2 weeks ago. They basically rebuilt my assembly & added the slates…all under warranty. My cover now even moves faster, smoother and quieter!

Nice! So, you did a request through the app or in person at the service center? Or asked to fix the gap?

I added a photo of my tonneau cover and a screen shot of the service bulletin for the fix in the service request and said “request service bulletin fix for tonneau cover” and they fixed it. See pics for rework screenshot and the pic I included of my old tonneau gap.
