If you were concerned about the possible loss of the EV tax credit, the tariffs could have an even bigger impact on the EV industry. Haven't seen any comment from Elon, but here's what the CEO of Rivian has to say about it:
Forget the EV tax credit. Rivian founder and CEO R.J. Scaringe is far more concerned about another threat from President Donald Trump: tariffs.

“It has, in some ways, bigger implications, far bigger, than what happens with the IRA tax credits,” Scaringe told reporters last week, referring to the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, which contains pro-EV policies that Trump has attacked time and time again.

“There’s not a car company in the world that’s not thinking about moving supply chains around right now,” Scaringe said.
Although it seems like Rivian wouldn't have much to fear from the possible loss of the EV tax credit, since Rivians don't get it anyway.

And of course, other countries will respond with tariffs on US goods. For example:
"Make Them Pay A Price": Tesla Threatened With 100% Tariffs In Canada
A 100% tariff on Tesla products could noticeably bump up the cost of a Cybertruck for Canadians.

So, yes. One caveat is that like Apple, Tesla seems to be pretty good at supply chain stuff.
I don't think Elon will be able to dodge this one :sneaky:

“Trade wars are easy,” he said. I said to him, tears in my eyes; no sir you’re wrong - that’s “earth girls!”

I’m still betting the prices drop by EO Q1. The supply vs demand issue is still relevant.

Q4 earnings power point tells us they are actively trying to bring the price of the truck down.
Can’t do that if trade war. With apologies to Mike Tyson for the liberties taken:

“Everyone has a plan to ‘actively try and do something’ ‘til they get punched in the face.”

Don't they source their SS from US plants?
Tesla is secretive about such details. However, it's been reported that at least part of their their supply comes from Outokumpu, a large Finnish company.
Tesla is reportedly sourcing some stainless-steel panels for the exterior of the Cybertruck from Finland-based company Outokumpu, according to people familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg.

The unnamed sources said the supplier, which has worked to with Tesla to accommodate the Cybertruck's unconventional design, will ship the materials to EV maker's factory in Austin, Texas, in what is a major product shift for Outokumpu.

The company has a plant in Calvert, Alabama, which could supply Giga Texas with materials, the sources said, noting that Tesla could use more than one supplier. Neither Outokumpu nor Tesla commented on the report.

Helsinki-based Outokumpu is Europe's largest producer of stainless steel. It typically supplies stainless steel for bridges and railways, and its products are also used in washing machines, refrigerators, and car exhaust systems. Stainless steel is a combination of steel and nickel that can be two or three times as expensive as regular steel.
