If I look at my screen more than 1-2s I get a warning. No chime, nothing but the single line message. On the 2nd+ warning, I get the blue flashing. If I don’t violently shake the wheel I get a strike. I had 3 strikes the first day of ownership, and was in jail on day 3. I read online where people comment that I must not be paying attention, and that they have never gotten a strike, or can even imagine how poorly I am paying attention.

I watch a lot of YouTube videos of FSD drivers and they mess with their router for 10-15s with NO warning. WTF??

Suggestions?

Try glasses ?
Seriously, sunnies and keep your head straight. Look at the screen and the job done quickly, then get back to watching the road.

I agree, the eye tracking doesn't give you nearly enough time to even adjust the AC.

Yep. FSD for me is essentially unusable. Even with no glasses and not taking my eyes off of the road for 1s, it will still throw false awareness alerts and doesn’t respond to tugs on the steering wheel until I’m practically swerving into other lanes at which point it just auto-disengages anyway. So many people swear that we must be on our phones or not paying attention. These same people will create posts about manufacturing defects they have and then turn around and say there can’t possibly be any vehicle-to-vehicle variations or occasional defects affecting the CTs ability to properly gauge awareness. It’s all a conspiracy to them. ?

You can view what the interior camera sees to check if there is an issue there.

How much cumulative time have you had your phone in your hand while you received the strikes?

And be honest in your response, please.

Just a tip: There's a delay between when you 'apply torque' to the squircle and the system acknowledges it. I used to turn it, then turn more, then turn more until I popped it out of FSD because it wasn't acknowledging it. Turns out, you just need to wait a second or so.

So no need to violently shake anything. Just hold a little pressure on one side or the other, and give it time to register.

So many people lie or conveniently leave out details with their FSD experience, so unfortunately proof is needed to understand the supposed anomaly. can you get a wide-angle video of your strikes/warnings?

Who hurt you? ? No one is denying vehicle to vehicle variations, just trying to give suggestions.

I know for me I get yelled at less when I wear sun glasses. Having passengers is also helpful as I can have them fiddle with the screen.

If it's really not working for you, you can also block the interior camera with something and the system will fall back on wheel engagement instead of eye tracking.

^ this.

"violently shaking" the steering wheel is obviously unhinged. All you need is to hold slight pressure to one side. there is definitely a sweet spot.

When I am using FSD I always have my hand on the left side with sight pressure. Yes I know you can take your hands off but I find it gives me so much more freedom to look away longer without getting a warning

Add me to the list of people who feel like the machine flips out way to early. I am bear sighted, so it takes my eyes a little bit to adjust from looking forward to looking at the screen. I have gotten better at being faster, but when I first got the FSD I had several dings in the first few hours.

Have never gotten a strike, not even sure how they happen.

That said, I have seen the warning which makes using Spotify or doing anything in the nav challenging. I prefer the approach on the Model S/X UI where you can drag the music panel to the driver's side vs. the rigid UI approach driven by the single screen. The problem with the one-screen, no configurability, approach is that many controls are out of sight/reach for the driver.

Tesla should really move the nav/music to the left (Driver's side in the US) of the screen instead of the useless FSD visualization. Put the visualization on the right, out of the way.
