Odd, I can spray a hard stream of water at the Smuggler’s Bay, but it’s all caught by the trough and drains away.I feel for you . So so annoying . My water drains into the smugglers bay .
The amazing thing is how bad knowledge management is at the Tesla SCs. Numerous well documented problems and fixes, and the techs there seem dumbfounded with every issue you bring up.Oh man, thanks for this. I'll be testing mine and sealing it off this is where it's leaking from. My tonneau has been "reworked" three times by the service center and it's still too wet to keep, say, suitcases back there on a road trip.
Edit: Just tested. Yup, just watched water run off the glass right through the gap between the glass and the applique. Hot damn.
Edit2: That particular windshield rubber seal is currently on sale at Amazon. I have never been so excited to stick on a piece of tape in my life.
Same. Have washed the truck a number of times with the tonneau open and pressure washed the bed out many times with no water getting in the smugglers bay. Stays completely dry.Odd, I can spray a hard stream of water at the Smuggler’s Bay, but it’s all caught by the trough and drains away.
Did you get it yet or can it be ordered through tesla? Can’t wait to get
i havent taken mine in yet . Live far from a SC so collecting issues before I make an appt.Did you get it yet or can it be ordered through tesla?
I tried the video weatherstrip and it didn't fix it. The strip with the middle part removed was far too soft and let water beads in through that curvature, instead of creating the gutter that the video spoke of. Couldn't withstand regular rain, was a sieve in a soft cloth car wash.Didn’t help me either, but put an auto glass seal between the appliqué and roof glass and it did the trick. Appliqué edge abutting the glass needs to be cleaned with alcohol. Using an adhesive promoter/enhancer will allow a tight seal. When applied looks like it’s part of the appliqué . It’s an inexpensive and effective way to minimize the drips.

Awesome to hear it's still on and working.Glad it worked for you too. I have had mine for almost a year without issues. Actually, the heat of the sun here in S Fl made the adhesion better.
Yep, and you can definitely see the new seal in the service procedure. It's super beefed up and rubber, with a slot where the appliqué seal would go into. Mine didnt look anything like that...it was a super duper thin black foam/not even close to rubber or the more expanded foam that others have like the video. My build date is mid August of this year...super weird. SC didnt find anything "missing" on the seal there and said up to a third of the bed can get wet and be within spec. Ridiculous. I bought the Tesla cargo mat that is a carpet style to give it a more trunk like look and feel and it would just get soaked...I just checked the catalog….you are right, the new seal does not show as available.
