if you manage to get the $4K discount and get a lease which triggers the $7500 plus a $1000 referral, isn't that a great deal? then you buy the lease? whats you guys take on it?

I agree and as others have said you are buying an “old” model year 2024 and that is a valuation hit IMO. They need better discounts to move these or at least a promo interest rate. A promo interest rate with current incentives would probably get me to buy a 2024.
Tesla has been dropping lease MF since late Nov. My lease was 14% APR equivalent MF and a new lease signed a week ago was 6% APR equivalent MF. Telsa might start incentivizing like Rivian did with 23s back in mid 2024 (they had basically 0% MF) to sell the older the previous gen.

My Nov lease was just horrific. $23K in interest over 36 months. The RV was pure fantasy also. Tesla/Chase was basically forcing me to buyout the lease early with these numbers.

New leases in Feb 2025 at least has a reasonable RV and you are paying far less in interest (from the money factor) and thus a few hundred less a month also.

It’s cheaper by $3K than in Dec 2024. If you can wait I suspect there will be further price cuts.

I just signed a lease to do exactly this. I figure the $7500 federal credit will probably get axed sooner than Telsa will discount the CT by that much, so I'll take it now and the $4k price reduction + $1k referral.

yes, especially if you aren't eligible for the direct $7500 rebate due to income....still could possibly drop further like the rest of the auto market (2024 F150s now getting down to about 15k off for xlts)

Wow, the previous money factor on the lease was ridiculous.

For those that may not know, the way to convert a money factor (lease interest rate, but also referred to as "rent charge") is to multiply it by 2400. Example: .003 * 2400 = 7.2%

Unless you own a business and can take advantage of the tax laws I would never recommend leasing a vehicle.

I do own a business, and should probably do that especially with Sect 179 it's better than. lease.

If that discount would have been available on the 31st i would have definitely thought about spending the extra to jump up to a 24 cyberbeast Instead of a 25 awd. Next time for sure

There's a guy in FL who leased and immediately bought out the lease and then claimed 179 - essentially making the CT around $54K. Check with your accountant.

the $7500 rebate actually works for folks who don’t meet income if you lease?

also for those who leased, why even put any money down: isn’t $0 down the way to go?

that's what I mean the lease works even with higher income limit, not sure if you can put $0 down but interest rate is pretty high so that might make things worse if actually leasing (and not doing lease hack)

I pre-ordered in 2021. The only reason I don't have a CT in my garage is because of Musk. It's the best EV truck on the market and an exact fit for my needs. I just don't see change in the next 4+ years for buyers like me. It doesn't matter what the price drops to anymore, that's not the issue.
It’s called The Musk Effect.

It has turned many shoppers away from purchasing a Tesla product, especially a Cybertruck.
