Why would any Chevy dealer want a C8 back? Dealer lots are overflowing with them. GM/Chevy simply built too many (53K in 23 and 50K in 24)and now the normal discount is about 10-15% off except for ZR1 and Z06s (but those are discounted 5%). I will pull the trigger when Z51 trims are discounted $15K. Currently around $12-13K off sticker.
I don’t know, I’ll give you the guy’s info and you can talk to him.

I get something just about every month from the two major dealerships here in town.

They do want me to buy an E-Ray though. I am tempted I like the idea of an AWD Corvette. In fact I put one together earlier this week on the configurator. I don’t need a Z-06; I would use it. My build is a ā€˜21 Z-51 convertible with less than 10,000 miles (I paid sticker when people were paying $120k for them). Not proud of that necessarily. She only comes out when the weather is nice.

Taken in 2021. My old ā€˜14 (C7) Z-51 (now belongs to my dad), My old ā€˜21 M3P (now belongs to my buddy), and my current C8.

*Already threw the latest offer in the round file. It won’t be long for the next one comes, I’ll snap a pic of whatever the pitch is then.

Hell, Toyota just barely stopped begging me to let them have my 2014 FJ back within the last couple of years.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Tesla should be ashamed of being unwilling to stand by their supposed ā€œflagship.ā€ The truth is just what it is, they can’t move them - we know that.

It’s going to get worse. Elon has made Tesla ā€œuncoolā€ and you can’t easily come back from that. Sure kids love them, but they’re not buying cars or trucks. I think generational damage has been done to the brand.

I unabashedly love my truck, it doesn’t deserve the reputation It has developed which is starting to calcify.

Hell, even on the Tesla forum on Reddit X owners were crowing about the CT getting ā€œsmokedā€ by an X Plaid.

At some point, perception just becomes reality.

They do want me to buy an E-Ray though. I am tempted I like the idea of a four-wheel-drive Corvette. In fact I put one together earlier this week on the configurator. I don’t need a Z-06; I would use it. My build is a ā€˜21 Z-51 convertible with less than 10,000 miles (I paid sticker when people were paying $120k for them). Not proud of that necessarily. Nice C8. My friend got one last summer and let me test drive it and I got hooked... but I didn't want to buy overinflated used prices and new prices were cratering (I saw $11K discounts on 23s in the fall from MacMulkin).

To reduce supply, Chevy paused production an extra week over the holidays. Tesla essentially does the same with their vehicles when sales are slow.

There are volume dealers with 300 C8s - https://www.macmulkin.net/new-vehicles/corvette/ - I heard MM sells 100+ a month.

How could they? They can’t get rid of the ones they have. If they knew how to sell them they would gladly take it back. I can’t get Chevrolet to stop begging me to give them back my C8!
There are over 30 C8s just at the dealer closest to me. That’s one dealer. Not the entire state.

The question presented is: Can you trade one in?

Anybody think the answer is ā€œno?ā€ Because, again, I am routinely being solicited to do just that.

You can’t trade in your Cybertruck to Tesla. They won’t take it. Not even if your intent was only to upgrade from an AWD to a Beast. In fact, from what we’ve seen thus far, there are no circumstances under which they’re not legally obligated to (such as under lemon law) where they’re willing to take a CT back for any reason.

I’d love to hear someone flesh out an argument as to how this is a good thing. ?

I’ll wait.

You’re right. Tesla isn’t taking the Cybertruck back as trade-in from what we’re seeing.

It doesn’t mean the dealer who’s been ringing you up monthly is going to offer you a price you’d accept anyways. So in effect, it’s almost the same thing— you’d do better in a private sale.

Yeah, it could easily be these guys (one is from the dealer which sold me both of my prior ā€˜vetts and the other is their primary competitor) think that I’m willing to buy a new Corvette every couple of years - which is not the case. It was 7 years between my last two. Although, again, I gotta say I’m really tempted by the E-Ray.

But, I can put a finer point on it along the lines of what you just said: there are literally no circumstances under which anyone could get me to sell them my C8 Corvette for what I paid for it (sticker price) in 2021!

If somebody offered me $120,000 for my CB, they’d be holding the key cards, a contract, an ink pen, and a handwritten ā€œthank youā€ note before their mouth stopped moving. ??ā€ā™‚

*Meanwhile, concerning my FJ Cruiser, I could sell it today for exactly what I paid for it in 2014. And IT has just under 100,000 miles on it!

I sold mine Cybertruck at the Audi dealership. I went there on Sunday and they make me offer of $80k with 5200 miles ( I bought it for $80k ). I refused and Monday night is the big news Cybertruck quaffing $7500 tax credit. I went back Audi at 8am ( dealership just open ) and took their offer. I love mine, but the build quality is bad, been Service two times and the panel on the side glued start falling apart. Will buy it again but not now. Just test drive the New Model Y and build quality is better. So quiet and the new upgrade suspension as good as air suspension on Cybertruck. Also FSD on the new model Y can start from Park

You’re not the only guy on this very forum who did pretty much the same thing.

As a 2024 Model Y owner as well, I find it hard to believe the new Model Y suspension and sound insulation could possibly anywhere near as good as the CT. You must've had a really bad build but I'm thoroughly impressed by how smooth the CT is when you set it to relaxed suspension its night and day difference compared to focused.

Multi-link is incomparable to air suspension.

I got 2024 model Y too. You should take demo drive new model Y when it’s available. The air suspension on CT is nice, but the new model suspension is feel no difference to my CT
