Whatever it is, Cost cutting or being overly genius, I think Tesla should have made the rear view mirror a flip mirror to a screen, it's technology that works, available, and knowing them, they would have made it badass, it's honestly lazy. you get used to what they did, but it's lazy...

Having a car with a midrear engine and a motorcycle, I guess I never use rear view mirrors anyways - the side view mirrors are fantastic and can see almost all the way behind the truck for normal forward activities. I would love to remove the mirrors for the look, but I can’t imagine driving without them.

I have the BIGGEST issues when it comes to motorcyclists splitting lanes behind me. It's super hard to see them on my screen, especially in the early morning hours.
The side mirrors are the best tool to use to check for lane-splitting motorcyclists, even in legacy vehicles that have a bigger view out the back window. Are you new to driving in California?

You ride? Be safe out there ❤
Yeah! My Zero is my EV. I hope to have the truck so I can carry it wherever I go ^-^

We're not supposed to split lanes across the express lane - but those who dip into it often are the most dangerous. I've been using the express lane in my car even when I don't need it because at least with the median next to me, the threats of those dippers only come from one direction.

Anyhow, collisions while lane-splitting are less likely to be fatal than ones mid-lane. They tend towards glancing blows and vehicles aren't bearing down on the spaces between lanes.

Good on you using your truck to protect the scene! That's playing into its strength.

Am I the only one that just uses the camera view constantly? I find having the full rear view plus both side cameras up is much more useful than the limited rear view you get in other modes. I barely use the map view and when I need directions the ones that show up on the truck vision overlay are fine. I just wish I could set the default screen to go to the camera view instead of anything else.

I saw a while back they were working on a UX with far more modularity. But they have to comply with archaic laws and rules about instrumentation.

Dinosaur government dragging their feet. Who'da thunk.
Tesla already solved this, make the drivers screen great again. or bring it back like S/X.

Really hard to tell if you are asking that bc you sincerely want to know, or you just enjoy being a dick on here for no reason other than your own pleasure.

Yes, i am new... you'll observe my yellow magnets all over my truck. I have been in California for 10 years, can't say I ever dealt with lane splitters before.

Having become very used to driving without the middle rear-view mirror, I vastly prefer not to use it in any vehicle I drive. It’s a crutch that discredits the actually useful side mirrors. I’m super glad to have the option to just turn the middle rear-view mirror completely off. Tesla, please do not remove the option to turn it off altogether.

The video misses a feature a lot of people don't know. You can pinch to zoom/expand to whichever zoom level you want. You're not limited to the zoom presets.

It's also worth mentioning the button on the steering wheel that shows/hides the rear view.

I remember when cars had only one side mirror and one rear view…

it required you to twist your neck and be aware of the size of your vehicle..

CyberTruck have sufficient equipment.. the users simply need to perfect their skills more…

The rear view camera at .5 scale shows far more than the physical mirrors do. Test it by watching opposing cars that pass by; you will see them much sooner in your camera.

Yes, I actually had one fly through express lane today going about 90 mph, I was able to get over but when people go that fast it can be really hard to see them.

Just stay safe out there, lots of idiots in cars too.

Thanks, Crissa, it was kind of instinctive tbh.
