Suppose Joe Blow is an early buyer of a Foundation Series CT. Let's say the price was $99,990 and it included free FSD.

OK, now suppose Tesla raises the price by $5,000 and drops the free FSD.

Joe is probably not going to say: "Oooh, the terms of the deal changed after my purchase. So now I need to send Tesla another $5,000 and deactivate my FSD". Instead, Joe will simply stick to the terms of the original deal, and Joe has every legal right to do that. Agree?

OK, now suppose Tesla lowers the price by $5,000 and adds free Supercharging.

Tesla is probably not going to say: "Oooh, the terms of the deal changed after Joe Blow's purchase. So now we need to refund $5,000 to Joe and give him free Supercharging". Instead, Tesla will simply stick to the terms of the original deal, and Tesla has every legal right to do that.
I bought some running shoes last year. They were limited edition and I paid a markup because they were new and limited.
They are on sale now so I plan to picket the shoe store and the manufacturer until I get the discount and the free Coleman water bottle they are offering if I buy the shoes.
The nerve of some companies.

I'd even settle for a cheap lifetime charging upgrade fee for existing foundation buyers. That would go a long way
Cheap? I wonder what the average cost of that is, esp. for a CT/CB. I suspect that if someone takes full advantage (charging minimally at home), that could be $200/month easily, probably more. In ten years (and a CT should last easily twice that), $24k.

Granted they'd be getting your "fee" up front. But if that "fee" was say $5k, they'd have to be earning very good interest on it to cover your likely usage over the lifespan of the vehicle. Even if they're making more than enough markup on the electricity rate to pay for supercharger maintenance and expansion, it's still a boatload of $$.

All this outrage is crap. The terms are what they were when you put down the larger (non-refundable) deposit. Until then you could just walk away and get your $100 back. They don't have ANY obligation to offer updated benefits retroactively. I could see doing that just for good will and potential future purchases if it was a small fixed cost (say $1k or less), but not otherwise.

I think it would be a cool idea if they did a subscription model for supercharging. Like $50/month for free unlimited supercharging.

They probably will never give foundation series owners free supercharging in retrospect, but going forward, they should at least give some option for it but at a lower price. That would be awesome

I also noticed that the incentive for the $749 lease ends March 3. I wonder if they’re gonna offer free supercharging for leases
According Telsa's official Cybertruck account on X, you should probably jump on the $749/month lease deal. Otherwise ... well, it's not actually clear what the consequences might be.

Tesla has done this before for FSD and unlimited charging for x amount of years. Could be something similar for the Foundation people.

We did buy early, no biggie there. But we did have some major growing pains with the initial release, so having an option like this would go a long way.

Some people will sell, some will be involved in crashes and totaled, others may just die, who knows - but they'd still make money on the deal.

I have had my Cybertruck since January 2024. I think it's a great truck especially on the dirt roads that I travel often. Sadly though, with Elon's antics, I am afraid nobody will buy these at any discount price. I drove by the Upland Tesla store, they must have had 50 sitting there. Even my foends refuse to even ride in it, not to mention consider buying one. I sure hope things turn around but I don't see how..

4. It would cost Tesla 2.5-3.5k easy a year (based on 9 months of ownership and $1916 spent so far charging - it would be more if I didn't have to pay for it.
Keep in mind the industrial rate for electricity is typically around 1/10th the residential rate. So if I pay at home $0.10/kwh, Tesla pays $0.01. So what Tesla charges you $3000 for at $0.41/kwh only likely costs them $73.

This makes it tempting to sell my AWD Foundation and get the a Beast foundation with the free supercharging. I see they only have tactical grey though.

Very few Teslas charge more than 5,000 miles at a supercharger over the lifetime of the vehicle.
Says who? I owned five and every single one of them has seen more than 5000 miles worth of supercharging including my cybertruck which I’ve not even had for a year yet. What are you talking about?
