I hope this is real. Can't seem to tell from the posts. Half say it's fake and half the post say it's not and both seem to be very sure lol. What I know is that there is a lot of people reporting issues with panels coming off. Checking at delivery is not a fix as this is happening after owning it for awhile.

Maybe Tesla will use another rivet.

All those in this thread that think this is fake news, are probably uneducated and looking for attention. The Hold is very real and there are numerous threads about it. My Tesla SC confirmed there is a hold on all CT deliveries at the moment.

Thank you for confirming. Very glad this is finally being addressed.

Regardless of price, or how great the technology is, or performance of the vehicle, I suspect there are people holding off purchasing till this is sorted out. Buying any vehicle that has the potential of body panels coming off years later is a hard pass for many. Seeing people report panels coming off after less than 2 years of ownership, makes me wonder what happens after 10 years or more?

Wow what happened together bolt that was backing off causing this to come loose months ago? Did they get rid of the bolt now and just use adhesive?

I bought two tubes of black gasket sealant months ago to run along the seam to block water and wind ingress. I haven’t done it but thinking I’m gonna do it now to help prevent this. Not waiting for it to fly off.

The stainless is adhesive bonded to a steel backer.
The steel backer is mechanically fastened to the vehicle. The nut was part of the backer attachment.

I unsubscribed to Electrek last year. I got sick and tired of his pretending to be a pro-Tesla ‘news’ source when in fact his posts are mostly anti-Tesla opinion pieces with some facts strewn about, and his followers are, many of them, rabid Tesla trolls. I wouldn’t believe a thing he says without a very critical eye.

Educate yourself before you respond to a thread, or you are the troll.

I don’t think of it as fake news. I see Electrek as almost pure opinion strewn with facts. Like most so-called news these days we need to read and evaluate for ourselves just how much is fact and whether it is worth our time. I can get the factual content with less opinion elsewhere so I do.

I guess it depends on how one defines fake news. To me fake news is either outright lies or 90% fabricated. Fred is sometimes 70% opinion (you could say that is fabricated)

@matrix4123 Thanks for posting the video. Why this wasn't sorted out earlier is confusing. What you don't see in this video is all the people swerving to avoid a metal part in the middle of the highway. It's only a matter of time before people are hurt.
