Has anyone else had this happen or know why it happened? When I woke up this morning, my Tesla app was asking me to setup my phone as a key and I couldn't get into my cybertruck. So I had to go back into the house and get my wallet which has the keycard in it. Luckily I was at my house otherwise I would have been SOL. I rarely take my wallet with me anywhere and often times I leave it locked in the glovebox when I do. Would have been a big hassle had that happened while I was out and about. Any idea what caused this or does anyone else have this problem? My Tesla app didn't update, my truck didn't receive a new update overnight, my phone didn't receive a new update or even restart. Bluetooth was never turned off. I'm curious what happened and it makes me anxious when I'm out without the keycard. Thanks for any input!

No, I've not had that happen. However, you should be able to unlock from the app even if the phone is not a key? (Although that won't let you drive...)

I had this happen. I did a soft reboot on CT, logged out of app and logged back in and everything was fine again. Also cleared up some strange problems I was having with FSD.

I also had this happen. Concerned with perhaps a security breach I did the pw change, and even made an appointment so I could open a chat with service. I always do this, whenever I have a question I’d like answered by Tesla, not expecting to actually go to the appointment, usually make it some date I have free just in case like 3 weeks out. But it gets you a chat.

Anyways, did that and Tesla thought it was strictly app related they’d said a couple days after reporting it was in for tech review, so bringing truck in for appointment seemed redundant.

I’m usually not anywhere without my keycard, but sometimes I do like to leave the massive lump I carry in my back pocket at home, and I’m pretty terrible at keeping my watch charged. There’s a non-zero percent chance this could really hose me if happens at wrong time so hopefully they get it fixed, however being able to still unlock and drive through app is something I hadn’t realized, thanks fam!

I recommend submitting service appointment to make sure it gets enough traction to become a known issue the app folks fix.

I had it happen once or twice. Sometimes if you have the app open near the truck, close the app and get in it will display this and also say walk away lock unavailable. If you open the app it will allow you to enter PIN and drive.

“we would need to know the exact date and time this occurred to review the data. Otherwise there are millions of data points to look through”

Somebody needs to show this guy the “grep” command

I had this problem with my M3 turn where the Tesla app would display “turn on Bluetooth to set up key“. The problem was with the iphone and the security settings and bluetooth screen.

The phone could connect to the M3 entertainment system, and unique DRIVER settings, but it would not unlock the key to dry the vehicle. I finally had to go in and find Bluetooth settings for the unique Tesla app and enable it.
