Good find, but agreed looks like the 3m double sided tape is in the wrong spot/side of the material.

Mal, would you mind sharing which windshield seal tape you chose?Yes, for me the leak was where the roof glass met the aeroflap. Easily tested by opening the tonneau and pouring a glass of water on the roof glass. I could see it pour in before it got to the aeroflap. I fixed it for months with electrical tape, and then 'upgraded' to windshield seal tape.
I got the idea from another gentleman on for the forum, and used what he recommended: DOTAATDW Windshield Rubber Seal, 19mm Car Weather Stripping for Car Front Rear Windshield Trim, Rubber Adhesive T Shape Sunroof Seal Cover Leak Sound Proofing (23 Feet)Mal, would you mind sharing which windshield seal tape you chose?
I have been wanting to trying this since I first saw the electrical tape post but I have a cybertent so that aero cover needs to come off each time I open it.I got the idea from another gentleman on for the forum, and used what he recommended: DOTAATDW Windshield Rubber Seal, 19mm Car Weather Stripping for Car Front Rear Windshield Trim, Rubber Adhesive T Shape Sunroof Seal Cover Leak Sound Proofing (23 Feet)
I put one single strip across the truck, from one side to the other, bridging the gap between the aeroflap and the roof glass. You can definitely do a better job than did, but it's worked great for the last 5 months or so. I go to a high pressure touchless carwash, and only get a little dribble on the sides occasionally. It used to leak like a sieve.

The electrical tape is pretty easy to peel off, but this windshield seal stuff looks stuck on pretty good. I haven't tried to remove it yet, so don't know for sure. (That is to say, it adheres to both the glass and the aeroflap.)I have been wanting to trying this since I first saw the electrical tape post but I have a cybertent so that aero cover needs to come off each time I open it.
Does the part of that strip that overlaps the aero cover actually adhere to it or is that just overhang?
That crack is not supposed to be sealed. Mine isn't sealed and my bed is dry, even after a blustery storm. The electrical tape is pretty easy to peel off, but this windshield seal stuff looks stuck on pretty good. Obviously. But you shouldn't have to do it more than once because this puts the weatherstrip where it's supposed to go, down the center of the aluminum trim where it's protected from UV rays.A number of people have managed to do the rubber stripping on the inside (where it's supposed to go), so maybe that's a better approach for you if you need to remove the aeroflap now and then.
It only takes a minute to take off, and another minute or two to put back on (once you understand how it's attached).I was too lazy to take the aeroflap off to fiddle with waterproofing it.![]()
I hear ya, but tell it to the service technicians at Fife who failed twice to get it done. It was easier and faster for me just to solve it from the outside.Obviously. I just had my 'missing' slat installed by Tesla. There was no/little push back, especially when I posted via the Tesla service app the picture of my missing slat. Leaving me with a nice rail gutter with even spaced holes to pour water right behind the back seat/bed.You can ask a service center to add the extra slat. It is a laborious procedure though. If you are very far from a Service center this solution here would do.
I asked my SC to add the missing slat and they said what I have is within spec and normal. SC tech walked to 2 other CT on the lot and showed me that they all had the missing slat. Meaning they didn't want to do it. So not sure how to convince them otherwise, sad to say....I just had my 'missing' slat installed by Tesla. Definitely try a different SCI asked my SC to add the missing slat and they said what I have is within spec and normal. Show them the this 'Slat System - Tonneau (Rework) Tesla bulletin..BY TESLAI asked my SC to add the missing slat and they said what I have is within spec and normal.
