I searched and cannot find this discussion.

Since I purchased the AWD in Feb, it has used the below avg cost per gallon which is about $1 more than the avg in my area since 2022. It only reached >$3.50 in March to June of 2022.
Makes me really question these stats below. Do they add in all the extra ICE costs? I thought this was just gas c/w electricity.

Had Grok redo it:
Summary

Based on Middle Tennessee’s gas prices since February 2025, your estimated gas savings should be around $333 rather than $727. This adjustment accounts for the lower local gas prices and a realistic fuel economy comparison. Your actual savings depend on your driving habits and the specific vehicle you’re comparing to, but this recalculation aligns better with regional data.

switched to EV since 2016 but never calculated nitty gritty Gas saving at all but simply never been to Gas stations, dealership/stealership, mechanic, oil change, emission test & auto parts=Big $aving. Israel bombing Iran will spike the gas prices and AVs will clean up the Air.

100% agree- so why do they inflate the only customer facing data in the Tesla app?! Totally unnecessary.

It's the AVERAGE price of all gas stations, including little rural ones with high prices. People who care about saving money search out the lowest priced ones.

Tesla is using average premium gas prices.
This is it! Now it makes sense- kinda. I mean- there are a few trucks that recommend higher octane (>91) like RAM 1500 TRX and a few F150 and Chevy Silverado models. But that’s a better comparison for Model X and Y to European cars like BMW and Mercedeso. Maybe a comparison to diesel prices makes much better sense.

From Grok:
Calculated Percentages of two ton” pickup sold in US over past 3 years by fuel:

• Diesel: ~75% (range 70–80%)
• Gasoline: ~20% (range 15–25%)
• Electric: ~2% (range 1–3%)

and

From Grok:
The estimated average premium gas price in Middle Tennessee over the past three years is approximately $3.50/gallon, and the average diesel price is approximately $3.81/gallon. For precise historical data, consult archived AAA or GasBuddy reports for Middle Tennessee cities like Nashville.

Show me a truck that runs 11-12 second quarter miles and runs on regular gasoline! Our slow as molasses F-150 with a 4.6L naturally aspirated V8 has needed mid-grade for the last 10 years to avoid knocking under acceleration even though the Owner's Manual claims it should run fine on regular.

I'm with ya,,,,,,, my last truck a 5.7L Tundra could barely get 19 miles/gallon, and I'm never going back to the days of $60/$70 to go 250 miles, when I can go 250 miles on $17 of electricity.......and my beast is quicker to 60 mph then a stock Vette........

So much for the narrative that it only takes less than 5 minutes to fill-up with gas! I've been there, but not in the last 8 years! It's not uncommon to have to wait at least one or two cars at the two cheapest gas stations in the county I live. That makes fueling up at the lowest prices take the same amount of time as my average Supercharger stop, the only difference is I can take my road break while charging, not so much while queuing up to the gas pump. And in 8 years of driving electric, I've never had to queue up at a Supercharger (or charge at a third party DCFC).
