The power button is like your power button on your PC it just turns your truck off instead of putting it into sleep mode.

Soft reset is done by holding down the two scroll wheels for about five seconds until the truck restarts.

I can tell you it saved my ass today. First road trip from Nashville to Chicago and received the critical error and to pull over immediately. Reduced power so I was essentially dead on the side of highway 65. I powered off then on and I was able to complete the trip. The route was still active in the navigator when I powered back on so clearly some things were saved into memory.

Fyi, many of the faults will clear after a power down (exit the vehicle and screen off) and on the next power up, if the condition isn't present.

Intermittent connectivity problems might resolve themselves temporarily. However, when a fault occurs and messaging advises on pulling over, once you shut down the vehicle may be disabled. So depending on the error message, you may want to elect to keep driving to a better location than the side of the road. my $0.02

Is anyone able to actually POWER OFF their CT?
When I select power off, the screen goes black but then turns back on and the vehicle reacts as it’s fully on. As in, I don’t believe the button works. (2024.45.32.15)

I had this, needed to do double scroll wheel reset first, then power off after the screen rebooted.

Pretty much anything, such as opening the door, will induce a power-on.

Update: Spoke In-person with the local shop, they said the CT basically won’t STAY powered off. It’ll go to “sleep” and stay asleep until the user wakes it up/pings it within the app.
That works for me, as my experience with not driving the CT for a week or so while away for work - the drain of electrons are minimal as long as I don’t wake it up via the app.

Coolness!
When mine was being weird, it never fully shut down.
With recent software updates, it will go multiple days between top offs (3% triggers it, I think).

That's pretty much it. The truck will go to sleep as soon as you get out, but it won't fully power down for a couple of hours. That's just a way to force it.

However, all of these are kind of soft power offs. If you need to do a hard reset then you need to disconnect the MV power in the frunk.

Is there any way to actually shut the power off-off?

Find a 120V outlet you can leave it plugged into
Otherwise, you'd need to disconnect the MV battery and have a way to power the frunk when you return.

It should go to sleep, consuming less than 1% every couple of days. I left mine for almost 3 weeks and it used maybe 7%.

If the truck is "off-off", how will you open it? 🤔

With a lantern battery using the power leads near the port side front wheel well.
Well, sure, you can pop the frunk, remove the apron, and jump-start it. Heck, do that in advance and disconnect the MV battery, and the truck will be OFF.

But, IDK how long the MV battery will keep a charge. Even the HV pack will slowly lose power from internal discharge.

If I had to leave the CT for literally months unplugged, I'd charge to 100% and let it sleep. That should be good for 6 months or more.
