Has the Cybertruck hate cooled off since March?

I laugh at the negative comments and gestures. If I notice while driving, I rub my eyes like I'm crying back at them. It's pretty funny to see their reaction to that.

When I first drove my new CT around Colorsdo Ski resorts in late March, there were some fingers Almost every day. Into May, I haven’t seen any fingers. I have been driving around in East coast since July, Portland ME, Boston MA, Livingston NJ, haven’t noticed fingers but a few curious people .

I'm in Florida, so probably a little different environment.

The only hate I've ever gotten was captured on Sentry mode where an older woman (with her husband) gave my Tesla double bird signs...but it was to our Model S, not our Cybertruck lol.

Also in Florida and in a hospital parking garage had an old lady park next to the truck and stuck a key into door wrap and gouge it about a half an inch. My wrap is a vinyl design printed so each side is one panel and now I have to live the blemish like a permanent pimple on the nose! We have many international tourists here and they love cyber trucks to the max. Most locals just don’t even give them a second look now except for kids under 12, they smile immediately when seeing one. So as far as Florida goes, almost no negativity here. Tesla cars are as common here now as a Toyota Corolla.

No issues in farm country in Michigan. I would say about 95% positive with 5% jealous, snide comments. Even the farmers with the larger trucks give me positive comments. Kids are especially interested in the rare cybertruck sighting. I got more fingers in my Model 3 than I do with the Cybertruck.

I’ve been driving mine since the end of May in and around Atlanta,
North Georgia, Chattanooga, southern Tennessee, and northwestern Alabama.

Someone yelled at me in intown Atlanta on No Kings Day. I’ve seen a few stares that appeared hostile in intown Atlanta. I’ve gotten lots of looks of amazement, lots of gaping kids, thumbs ups, “I love your car” comments, questions about driving range, and general curiosity.

I think the people who hate all things Tesla because of Elon Musk’s politics are a fringe element, and most of those aren’t going to do anything that might be illegal.

Most people don’t pay attention to the automotive press and many don’t even know it is a pickup truck. Many have no idea there is a frunk or under bed storage compartment.

Hey everyone, I’m hoping to buy a Cybertruck soon and wanted a quick vibe check. Back in March the sentiment around me felt pretty negative. I live in a more liberal area, and at the time it seemed like owning a CT drew a lot of eye rolls and snark.

Now it’s August and I’m seeing many more Cybertrucks on the road. For those in similar areas, has the hate died down? How are your day-to-day interactions lately: driving, parking lots, neighbors, at work, Superchargers? Any noticeable shift over the past few months?

I’d appreciate real-world anecdotes before I pull the trigger. Thanks.

I don't see any cybertruck hate, i dont see any cybertrucks. but others will be able to see mine next week after I take delivery Friday.

I'm in Seattle and usually get middle finger or a thumbs down on most drives. It makes me laugh. I love that my truck triggers stupid people

As you can see from the "libtard" comments from folks in this feed, CT drivers can be no different, exhibiting the same judgmental thought process as the people expressing their opinion on your choice of truck. It's so cringe reading some of these comments.

That being said, I've had my CT since May last year, living in Minnesota (touted as a "liberal hellhole") and haven't dealt with any issues at all in the last few months. There were a few middle fingers earlier this year and one person who kind of went over the top from the sidewalk with the gestures. I honestly don't even think about it anymore. A large majority of folks, if they approach me, are genuinely curious. Lots of those curious folks come with questions that tell me they need to rethink their sources of information. My favorite is, "Wont it rust in a month and fall apart in a year?"

I enjoy chatting with folks about the truck in person. 99% of folks are polite and civil in person. It's good to see politeness still lives regardless of our own biases and political leanings.

Apparently civility and politeness is lost as a value via these semi-anonymous online forums which provide a platform for us to show our worst tendencies.

I've had my CT since November 2024. In recent months the negative reactions have completely disappeared. I am in Canada, where for a few months earlier this year there were occasionally some negative reactions. Even during the period where occasionally I had some negative reactions, once parked, people would come up to the car and be overwhelmingly positive and interested in learning more about the vehicle.

Its died down a lot but there will always be someone mad at someone, that will never end. People will hate a chevy, a ford, a tesla, it doesn't matter what it is. Simple minded people who express themselves by trying to lower another person will always find a way to hate something.
Most people don't care what you drive. I was in Tacoma(lower income area) a week ago and got zero hate or middle fingers. Then I came back to my side of the water and got cut off and flipped off. Normally I rarely see hate and mostly thumbs ups on my side.
