They updated the schedule to say it will be completed Tuesday but who knows anymore. It’s a crazy world we will live in. I know they don’t have any folks at my service center who work on the cybertrucks sat/sun so we are now at, being very generous, 5 days for installation. Not counting the first two days it sat there waiting for other parts.
Funny. I just had the exact experience. At Tesla's Rocklin (near Roseville / Sacramento area), I dropped off on Wed and they said end of day, then "waiting for parts" then due Friday. Then I get a call. They said "the service manager is not confident in the sturdiness of the design. He thinks bolts might be wrong. He doesn't want to put you on (or off) the road with this kit." So they put back together with original parts. Weird. I mean, why take a chance if the grease monkey experts doesn't feel good about it. But still. Odd.

Well mine is in the shop now. Dropped it off today. They automatically added the cant rail recall as well. As of now they completed the cant rail recall but the terrestrial armor package in progress. Says it’s supposed to be ready by end of day Wednesday. But after seeing the issues people here are describing I’m not sure that will happen. I hope the cant rails are aligned properly. Mine were perfect before so we will see.

Yeah, I think my situation was that the mechanics and repair manager got “bad feels” about what they perceived as under-engineered bolts. But, of course, they’re not engineers. I’m inclined to believe that Tesla engineers included appropriate specs and saftey margins, but the local team flat out refused to install the kit as delivered to them. A bit bizarre and inconvenient for me. I was just wondering if I was the only one being told “this kit needs further engineering review.”

I dropped mine off today. They didn't have the parts in yet, which irks me a bit, but apparently the parts arrived today. The app updated from awaiting parts to "preparing." My guess is that it is "preparing" in the parking lot. Anyway, it is supposed to be returned tomorrow. They did confirm that this is their first install. I will report back tomorrow.

It looks ok to me fwiw.

the thing that shouldn’t have surprised me given my auto cross background, but did is how much the rigidity of the chassis improved after getting it installed. The truck handles a lot better now.

Well looks like they need more parts. They started my install yesterday not awaiting parts. So we will see if it is ready tomorrow by 6pm like originally quoted

Just got told my appointment for tomorrow was pushed a month out.

After I removed my RTT, Urander rack, cold and hot water system, frunk Molle panels, rear camera, and a host of little things.

But I hope this means a smooth and proper install, cant rail riveting, tonneau slat install, & ceiling shifter reinforcement. In other words, I hope they are un-FUBARing themselves.

Here is the text response when I inquired “why?”

“Part availability,” could mean it shipped with the wrong parts to properly install. At least that would be my guess…

I ordered one, too. SC says they will install it next weekend but I'm not holding my breath. Next quarter maybe they'll offer picket fence armor to go with it...

Yup. As expected, my installation date got pushed out a month this morning.
I was annoy with my SC for delaying my install when everyone else seemed to be prepared with parts. After hearing everyone else's delays - especially after dropping off their trucks - maybe my SC isn't so bad. Somebody was paying attention.

In my case they had to replace the rear skid plate since it’s different on newer builds that the kit was designed for. (I’m a sub 3000 vin)

Well, my status has changed to "repair in progress" and my CT's location has moved from the parking lot to inside the SC so hopefully I will get it back this afternoon.
