This would be national news if it was a Cybertruck.

It’s simple… society has not attached ideologies to this (or really any other) vehicle.

Owner of 99 percent of vehicles that has some kind of misfortune: ā€œwhat a shame. I hope the manufacturer makes it right!ā€

Cybertruck owner misfortune: ā€œmore money than brains or taste showoff fascist got what’s coming to him! This misfortune proves I am better than that person!ā€

Society was instigated into the attachment of those ideologies, politically, intentionally. If we did or didn't purchase because of one or another that's our choice, but Musk/Tesla chose environmental activism, and Musk chose hard right-wing conservative politics. I purchased in support of the former and in spite of the latter. For me it was an actual real physical contribution I could personally make toward doing less damage to the world. The politics are a terrible shame, but people will believe what they want to believe and the Cybertruck won't change any minds on that.

Because we allow money to own politics we get the worst government money can buy.

It doesn't surprise me that this glaring flaw happened to the lazily and sloppily developed Chevy. I tried my best to help a guy charge at a Supercharger (one that definitely allowed 3rd party vehicles), and the truck just outright refused to communicate with it. Both the app and the stall were reporting that it was all set, just waiting for the truck.

The UI looked like a repurposed Fisher Price toy. I don't see GM, Chevy, Ford, or Toyota making it long term. No amount of money will fix the impending doom.

Jim Farley is being made to look like a fool in the MSM but of the Big 3 he's the best leader. A real car guy who sees thew future. The Chinese competition would devastate the US if not inhibited. Not a great long-term fix though. Ford may make it. Mary Barre of GM is no Elon Musk to say the least.

Good thing Teslas can still drive with a frunk open (or a failed sensor that thinks the frunk is open). Only thing annoying is your get a message about driving with caution due to the "open" frunk and you can't activate FSD.

Disagree; Jim is a naysayer and has yet to take EVs seriously. Thus far he has simply belted marketing garbage that nearly all CEOs do to carry on the stupid cloak-and-dagger corporate speak.

How many times has he "committed" to switching he business model to answer the coming market implosion? At least 3 that I know of.

the point is pretty much moot in my opinion anyway; not a single other OEM is positioned to manufacture batteries like Tesla is; and this is the actual key to not going bankrupt. Gigawatt hours per year is the defining metric. Ford is already dead, they just don't know it yet.

What is giving me a flicker of hope is the announcement last week. Did you see that from Ford?

Essentially they're going to attempt an unboxed production line like Tesla is going to do. Also announced a $30,000 cheap pick up truck. Far better than any other big three. That said that's a pretty low bar. Tesla is light years ahead of everybody.

yeah, it would be nice to have large American companies make the coming purge, but I do think only Tesla will pull through.

I have a tough enough time convincing my friends and family that they will not personally own vehicles a decade from now lol

Right?! It's such a basic engineering test to pass. That's how you know that Chevy simply can't be bothered.

Genuinely curious how you came to the conclusion that purchasing a CT would be environmentally friendly during its life-cycle. (Manufacturing, Day to Day Operation, End of Life Disposal).

In regard to the CT itself and the .00001 negative societal responses that came with it (yes, I made that number up but pretty certain it’s quite small haha), the one question I’ve always asked and wondered about, is whether or not these same people are aware of the Saudi PIF (Private Investment Fund) and their holdings in the U.S. I’m intrigued as to whether or not they feel the same rage, anger and resentment towards those companies and their CEO and do they boycott them as well.

*And yes… I was in favor of LIV Golf! 😁

Can you imagine....We were getting real time articles a few weeks ago when the Cybertruck was on the Rubicon Trail.
That rubicon trail ā€œcyber truck failā€ is also bogus. I understand they blew a couple of tire rods and snapped a CV axle or so. However, we are talking about the Rubicon Trail. I challenge anyone to see if a stock pickup truck, or even base Jeep Wrangler wouldn’t get some damage going through the whole trail in stock form. I mean, just try to YouTube like a bone stock F150 raptor attempting it . Plus, I don’t know what level of experience the cyber truck drivers had. Based off my 20 years off roading experience in Southern California, Rubicon, and Utah…. newbie drivers have a habit of snapping CV axles or bending tire rods due to being absolutely clueless. Little tips and tricks would definitely save cv axles and tie rods if you know what ur doing. Like maybe don’t do a full turn when your tire is wedged against a boulder . Or paradoxically sometimes the locking differential can save your CV axle. 99% of the blown CV axles I’ve seen on Toyotas or Chevy trucks are a result of open differential wheel spin, and then the tire grabbing traction instantaneously. Pop ! CV is gone after that. However, with the locker engaged all the tires are crawling at a slow high torque pace , no momentum , no excessive wheel spin.
basically, put any bone stock, 4 x 4, in the hands of a newbie, and they can easily break parts too.

LOL, that's easy, it was replacing 4.2L F150. It's even easier because I keep trucks 20+ years.

And yes, I am fairly aware of the Saudi PIF and the Norwegian National Fund as well, both funded by petroleum profits, and both working to move their countries away from dependence on it. That, while our own Musk-supported government it counter-rationally doing everything it can to thwart, undo and eliminate every effort to implement renewables. Of course, that's only one facet of its full-scale campaign of American self-destruction, but it does manage to strike at the environment, our auto industry and our technological leadership simultaneously.

That is incorrect, this exact issue has happened to 2 or 3 different owners on the CT Facebook group. It limits your truck to limp mode (15mph IIRC).

Apologies, as I should have been more clear. I was wondering if you ran any numbers or had data that allowed you to have an idea as to when the offset would occur. I know it’s there for sure, but it’s highly dependent on variables used in the calculations and I was just wondering if you had any. I’ve run some on ours for a Ford Raptor through Grok and was curious if you had done the same.

My point on the PIF had to do with their investments in things like: Lucid, Uber, Mastercard, Charles Schwab, EA Sports and Home Depot. Curious as to where some people draw their ideological and moral lines if they’ve chosen to take offense to the CT, its developer and drivers.

Just a social curiosity and definitely not interested in political discussions unless they’re in person over coffee! 🤣🤣
