I have 2 home EV chargers, both on 60amp breakers, at my home. One is maintained by my power company the other is one I bought and rarely use. Over the weekend I was charging the truck and right when it hit 80% and finished charging, I also get a notification from the Tesla app that there was a charger error. I thought it was odd but didn't think much more of it. The next morning when I checked it out the charger light was red, and I could not get it to charge my other EV and won't connect to bluetooth or Wifi. The power company says it needs to be replaced.

So now I'm using my backup charger (Chargepoint Flex) and last night (before it was finished charging) I get the error notification again. I went down to look and the breaker was tripped. I flipped it back and still cannot connect it to my wifi or bluetooth. I have an electrician coming out this afternoon, but looks like I am out of luck for a few days.

If it's like my charger, I think you can hold the button on the plug for, like, a lot of seconds to make the unit reset. It's different than cycling the breaker.

I set up two new tesla chargers and had to adjust the charging flow inside the truck- it kept pushing the breakers. Until I set it, it was pulling way too many amps for the charger- I have 40 amp breakers, I shut it down to 32 amp draw in the truck and no more problems. Once it was set right i had no more problems since the memory in the truck remembers the appropriate draw.

The Wall connectors themselves should be configured based on the circuit and breaker to advertise 32A max charging.

agree that they should have! But the truck wanted more juice faster. I configured the Tesla chargers but the truck didn't listen. I had a couple of older Bosch chargers that I couldn't configure which is how I learned the truck trick.
That shouldn't happen.
If the display says 32/48 or 32/40 (anything other than ??/32) when charging, the WC are not properly configured, or the truck has a module failure.

Interesting.

I have a Gen 2 Tesla HPWC. On a 60a circuit, the HPWC "rotary switch set to" 9 for 48a max current supplied to the HPWC. No issues charging my Cybertruck.

Are all supply wires the appropriate kind, size, and torqued to proper specification?

Just had an electrician out today to check out the install and he said everything looks fine.

Both chargers are non Tesla 48amp on 60 amp breakers and have been working fine for 2 years or so.

The one I bought has been offline since 8/6 when we had a power outage so perhaps it’s a surge issue. Just odd timing for it to start throwing the breaker.

Vexing for sure. Good luck with the solution. I assume based on the offline condition since 8/6 you might consider a Gen 2 or Gen 3 Tesla HPWC. They show up here for sale from time to time....people using store credits and then reselling new or like-new chargers.

Nah FPL has unlimited charging for $31/mth but you have to use their equipment so I’m just going to replace this one under warranty if I have to.

Don't be dumb. The Tesla Wall Connectors come with installation instructions that clearly emphasize the need to set the Wall Connector to the appropriate amperage for the circuit. The way you are running it is unapproved, ill-advised, and very dangerous. Never rely on the charge power level in the vehicle to prevent catastrophe, particularly not on a regular basis.

Configure the Wall Connector correctly before you burn something down.

I doubt they are Made in the USA Tesla Wall Connectors. Tesla Wall Connectors are far more reliable than your run-of-the mill 3rd party Chinese made units which fail all the time.

Surprisingly, the Tesla units are often near the low point of the price range.

General rule: You can load a breaker to 80% of its rated value (There are exceptions). A 60-amp breaker can generally be derated to 80% of 60 amps equals 48amps.
