Tesla fixed it, but nothing like driving to the airport and seeing your Cantrail bending backwards while driving!

That’s post-recall too… WTF?

Edit: no it isn’t… don’t mind me. I’m dumb.

Yikes!

I keep checking mine, gently.
I’ve not had the recall work done yet, but I ordered the replacement wrap from TWraps ( great to work with as always!)

They had not called me in for the recall yet, so they had to take care of it when this happened.
I certainly could be wrong, but the protruding studs in yours were leading me to assume they were the latest version. I’m not sure what the undersides of the original version looked like, but they were only held on with adhesive. When did you get the truck?

There is a 8mm nut on that stud in the front so that must of come loose. I actually got in to mine a little after the recall as I was unhappy with how much of a gap there was. They should have loctite or thread lock on that or they didn't put it on tight enough.
There are two plastic tabs up that corner glass, then it goes to TORX screws under the front door glass weather stripping.

Picked it up in March 2024. I'm still not in love with how it sits.

Oh so yeah those are definitely the old ones. Interesting. Didn’t know they looked like that on the underside.

Yes, there was always a nut, but the new ones revises the way that it attaches. I can’t recall the specifics but we had several discussions about it with some of our highly technical guys leading that discussion.

All said, if you’re not going to get them replaced like me I think you better have it on a pretty regular pre-drive inspection checklist to make sure they’re still holding steady.

Sure Tesla will replace them, but if you are sitting on a recall that you haven’t done or attempted to do and these fly off and hurt somebody, …

You holding back because you don’t trust your SC? If so, I entirely get that. If ā€œmyā€ SC, per the Tesla app, was my only option I wouldn’t have done it either. Fortunately I have 5 in my area and found one that actually cares about the quality of work they do. I took it to that one, although further away, and am quite happy with the results. They feel rock solid now. I could probably do a pull-up on them. I could wiggle them around before.

Yeah, it was originally bolt to carrier bracket that then was glued to stainless. Now it's stud welded to stainless that passes through hole in the carrier bracket.

This looks like the lost nut problem as experienced by Dirty Tesla way back when.

When Chris shared his issue on Dirty Tesla I ran out and checked mine for the loose bolt and immediately tightened both sides. Have been perfectly solid since.
