I second this. I only have 1 set because thats all i need but they do everything they say they will do and are very well designedMe neither but I just bought a pair and they are awesome. No offense intended to all the aftermarket people on here, but they are in a different league. High quality, well thought out, insanely easy to put on or remove in seconds, Securely locked, Beautifully shielded accessory tracks, able to be used with the little sail panel doors, completely idiot proof, collapse small enough to store conveniently.
In fact, I’m hard pressed to think of literally anything that could have been done even slightly better on them. They even come with brackets for all the positions and an awesome little torque wrench to keep you from fucking up the install.
For me, worth every penny. Wouldn’t even consider any aftermarket version. Even from the American aftermarket vendors we all know and love.
Sorry awesome sponsors…you know who you are. Great products but only as a value proposition. If you want the best, get the Tesla ones.
wow, it comes with a torque wrench? Nice...and, like you said, a good way to prevent someone from over torquing the bolts.Me neither but I just bought a pair and they are awesome. Well… its more of a plastic knob with a hex driver bit inserted that is engineered to slip at around 7 ft-lb… works well though. I wouldnt rely on it for precision torque. Its also not adjustable.wow, it comes with a torque wrench? Nice...and, like you said, a good way to prevent someone from over torquing the bolts.
That’s correct but it’s basically one-time use because you can just leave the brackets on all the spots and close the doors over them.Well… its more of a plastic knob with a hex driver bit inserted that is engineered to slip at around 7 ft-lb… works well though. Agree 100% - I bought a 3rd party set and while it technically worked, ultimately I bought the OEM set (at full price) and made another CT owner extremely happy for selling my 3rd party set at a significant discount. The OEM set are 100X better than anything else out there - especially since I need to frequently remove the back most one regularly to haul my mountain bike (removes / reinstalls in seconds, not minutes)Me neither but I just bought a pair and they are awesome. Yeah aftermarket prices are tempting. So much that I tried 3 brands….some of them literally took 30 minutes to take on and off…..and then they all sagged and if you had a load on them you could see them bend as you hit every single bump in the road. Will save you a lot of time and grief. Get the tesla ones. Literally turn a key and they come off and the flaps go back down. They don’t sag or bend with bumps. The ability to put any bar in any position seems important to me. As well as the easy to store aspect. Thanks for the feedback.
The aftermarket prices are quite tempting tho.
Does OEM Cross bar still make lots of wind noise?Yeah. I tried every other 3rd party option as well…..Tesla’s OEM crossbars are worth whatever they cost. The designed arch is much needed especially over the bed where they are extended a lot and the curve gives the bars support so you don’t get bending and sagging when going over bumps….
Every other brand I tried had no arch and they all sagged, some before even hitting bumps…
