Hmm, if the the scroll wheel up and down now changes the speed profile, then what does clicking it left and right do?

Mad Max was an old setting (6 years ago) in Navigate on Autopilot:

'Navigate on Autopilot can be customized to a driver’s preferences, including four settings for speed-based lane changes (Disabled, Mild, Average, or Mad Max). When enabled, Navigate on Autopilot’s speed-based lane changes will suggest transitions into adjacent lanes that are moving faster, in the event that your vehicle is traveling slower than the set cruise speed (for instance, if you approach a slow-moving car or truck ahead). The Mild setting suggests lane changes when you’re traveling significantly slower than your set speed, whereas Mad Max will suggest lane changes when traveling just below your set speed’

So you can no longer adjust the max speed by rolling the right scroll wheel up and down?

I don’t love that. My FSD is not always that good at telling what the speed limit actually is and what reasonable people do on said road
I think a lot of the feedback they've gotten so far is based around that. I just did a 1,000 mile trip this past weekend and there were many places where the speed limit would change from town to town, and the only sign when leaving them was 'end 35 MPH Speed Limit' and it's just generally known that the state speed limit on byroads is 55MPH and the truck never changed the displayed speed limit. I had to set the max speed up to 62 or so.
Then there were sometimes where I got a bit comfortable and didn't notice the sign, and when I looked down we were going 'the speed limit' even though the display showed 35MPH... so who the hell even knows anymore HAHA

My current FSD tries to do 50 in school zones sometimes when there are literally children everywhere and does 20 sometimes through the same roads in the middle of the night. It lacks context. Maybe 14 is way smarter but that’s a bit of a bummer to take away speed I out from the driver.

yeah, the contextual awareness in v14 has expanded by quite a lot. The new speed modes should work well for the vast majority of the cases now.

Fair. That’s the goal. I’m not quite ready to give up control of max speed and a brake pedal. I’d prefer they retain that until I learn to trust it. Maybe as a toggle option?
It’s going for take a little more than clever humorous names for the modes for me to be happy about that.

I'm not entirely sure who asked for Mad Max mode, I don't see it being useful/desired (due to the whole speed limit thing) outside of heavy traffic areas where you have to be aggressive with merging/lane changes/etc, and can't speed anyway.

Would rather they work on Banish/Summon, better speed limit recognition, school zones, etc.
