Tesla gave me a model X plaid today as a loaner. The sound system in the model X plaid is superior in every way to the cyber truck. I could not believe how good it was. Anyone else agree with this?
Even my 2019 Model X had a better sound system! It's more warm and more "full".

My 2018 Model S P100d with premium audio was by far the best Tesla sound system. Sublime down to the deepest bass (I’m a Steely Dan audiophile).
When I switched between that and my wife’s 2022 X Plaid her X was a significant letdown every time.
When I replaced the 2018 with a new 2023 S Plaid is was comparable to the letdown X. Harsh upper mids and weak sub bass.
The Cybertruck is better than the Plaids. Halfway up to the 2018.

I’m now chasing rattles with the sine wave and starting with the flapping carpet atop the subs in back. A wedge of felt under the lower door trim help a little. The front subs trigger some rattles in the upper door trim. I suspect that not all clips are engaged (some edge ones were loose). Are there any good threads on the topic of damping speaker rattles?

Fortunately, i had a chance to drive 2025 Model X non-Plaid For 3 days.

CT sound system is better. More balance b/w bass and mids/highs.

X sound system is better at surround…that immersive slider makes a big difference...i can barely detect difference on CT.

The issue I have with X is the lower bass…but that is minor…the BIG issue is harshness in the high frequencies! I think that it has too many mids or tweeters scattered throughout cabin and maybe the frequencies crash into each other…the highs come across harsh and too strong. It was bothersome for me.

Settings on both were FLAT. Factory settings…excerpt when i played with the immersive slider.

CT audio is better. Solid bass. Highs and mids sound balance.

In my opinion, the 24-25 premium sound system in the model 3 is vastly better than the cybertruck's as well.
My wife has a 2024 Model 3 Performance. The stereo is excellent, but cannot compare to the depth and dimension of the audio in the Cybertruck.

I don't think it's because the Cybertruck's audio system is any higher quality, I think the Cybertruck just has a really good listening environment and maybe better locations available for the specific speaker placements.

It's a happy coincidence of the design of the Cybertruck that the stereo sounds so good. It's the shallow angle of the windshield and roof line sloping down to the rear with the front passengers heads just forward of the peak and the large bench seat in back acting like a soft wall. And the soft dashboard with the glass above it taking out unwanted sound reflections between the front and back of the cabin. Any soundwaves directed towards the windshield are reflected directly to the soft dash and immediately absorbed.

I love my Cybertruck and love the sound in it but personally prefer the audio in my wife’s x.
Not a knock on the Cybertruck, that’s just one of the best systems I’ve ever heard in any car.

Does the CT have ANC or not? I could have sworn that was one of the differences called out for the RWD CT was the lack of ANC. Google results find both claims that the CT has noise reduction and that it doesn't.

Edit: Found the screenshot:

Regardless, the ANC on the S/X is terrible and makes 0 difference to people or testing devices.

Do you listen to high-bitrate, lossless audio? I installed Starlink recently. Yesterday I downloaded a bunch of new high bitrate Tidal tracks for the holidays. However, with Starlink you can stream whatever you want with high bitrate lossless audio if you have a paid Tidal account.

I haven’t but maybe I’ll try that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Per CT lead engineer Wes:

Number of speakers is not the best metric, just the easiest to quatify. It's more about distribution (sound stage) and actuator sizing (covering the frequency spectrum). I've put many miles on the base truck and the sound system is on par with 3 & Y and above most non-tesla vehicles I've benchmarked (even those that claim 30+ speakers). The Cybertruck premium sound system is just next level (I haven't heard a better OEM package).

So yeah, I stand by my comment above...CT audio is better than X.

I stand by mine that my Model S Plaid is significantly better than my CyberBeast. Significantly.
