I invested early and have an option to buy now. But at $3400, it’d take too long to recover the money over just plugging in at a local charger.
But have you SEEN one installed on a car that someone actually bought? I also gave them money at some point by the way.

No. They claim delivery in Q4 2025, but no indication that this has actually happened as yet.
Yeah. I’ve been following along with this for some time and that goal post seems to be like the horizon. Always visible but never reachable.
I’m not trash talking them. I bought into it too but I’ve sort of lost hope this is going to materialize.
Maybe it will happen at the same time as powerwall support for PowerShare.

What they are offering seems realistically possible in terms of technology and pricing, so my guess is that it probably does materialize at some point. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's worth buying.

I expect that it would effectively neutralize vampire drain, and even add charge, when parked in a sunny spot for a long period. I also suspect it would attract attention; hopefully no passers-by are inclined to vandalize the easily-reachable solar panels or disconnect the charger.

Do you guys think an Ecoflow DPU-x would fit under the cybertent? Can’t quite figure out how much height the little cart adds.
Anyone have one and willing to whip out a tape measure?

I don't know how comfortable I'd be with an aftermarket company making something that is hard wired into the trucks electrical system. If it goes to the charge port then sure. If Tesla made the range extender I'd go for it, but not an aftermarket, sounds like asking for trouble to me.

Take the plug in charger, plug it into the bed outlet then charge the truck with it. It's like a perpetual motion vehicle.

Word. Probably not a good idea. I do really wish Tesla would do something like this though.

I would agree Tesla should have made it a solar panel, they have roll up solar canopys for RV's they could have done the same. As far parking outside I would rather have my CB parked in the shade rather than the sun to gain a few miles. But on a long trip if you gained 30 miles it would be great any less would not be worth it. Charge up before you get to the airport mine sits in the garage for weeks and only loses a few %

I can assign a qualitative value to having a warm ass and being able to see the stars. I can only apply a quantitative value to a solar tonneau.

If it is about creating clean energy, you're better off donating to a small business looking to install solar panels, that will be a better net gain toward zero emissions.

I'm pretty firmly in the no solar tonneau camp.
A Better Builder Construction could use some solar panel donations :>)
