Happy new year fine folks. I figured out the generator I will use to power my charging while away from juice. Now question is do I need the tesla home charger? Is there a better "at home" charger to get to level 2 or higher? Not the one in the truck that came with it, I can produce more power than it will use. I can get to 50 amps, 11k continuous. Looking for best setup for that from someone who has experience. I have seen the Tesla at home unit wired up and that seems to work ok but it never gets that speed I really wanted. Thanks in advance and have a good one!

Happy new year to you too. Dont have experience but I have a setup capable of 50amp continuous too and always use the Tesla mobile connector. Has been plenty fast and doesn’t stress my setup.
That said, this one says it’s capable of 50 amp.
Your truck is limited to to 48amp I think.

so you use the one that came with the truck? From what I can tell its best is 30 MPH. The one at home can do up to 50 MPH if I figured that right. I have seen the one you sent. It is on my radar and thank you for that. You tube has a gent that wired in a wall charger to his generator and it did ok, but he had to change the breakers to 60 amp as the 50 would pop. Not looking to set my stuff on fire but being able to use my truck a bit more would be great.

The Cybertruck *onboard* electronics limits Level 2 charging to 48A so nothing will be able to charge faster than the Tesla unit. 11.5kW is the highest you can go with L2.

ok. Well, that is what I guess I was after. My question is I just cannot get level two out of my portable came with the truck charger. Home charger no problems. The other one,,, just not going to work. Thinking of just ordering another home charger and wiring that up.

I had to add a Neutral Ground Bonding Plug to my generator to get the portable Tesla charger to work. The other brands may work if they don't check for proper ground.

also do yourself a big favor and just go ahead and switch to 'percentage' instead of 'miles'. It's a more meaningful metric when thinking about how to keep your truck best charged.

All chargers can provide the same output if wired correctly. They just pass through the 220v from the house, and provide a signal telling the truck how many amps it can handle. They do not any kind of conversion or anything. TechnologyConnections has a good video on it. That being said, the Tesla ones are nice because they integrate with the same app, but not needed. You will want one with a NACs charging end, otherwise you’ll have to hook up, adapter every time you want to charge. And the button on the NACs to open the port is nice.
