I appreciate the speculation, but the AI5 chip design hasn't even been given final design (as of last month), much less go into test fabrication, much less get put into a test vehicle.Guys... I think we may have had our first glimpse at HW5. Hear me out.
In the past, the Tesla Validation Fleet would have their Lidar equipment mounted on the top only. This would suffice and provide Tesla the exact real-world positioning it needs.
Comparing the previous Tesla Validation Fleet with the new ones spotted.
This time on the other hand we have new cameras mounted low on the bumper by the corners. What if what we're seeing here is the HW5 camera suite. This would significantly help with cross-traffic, parking situations, low-level visibility, etc.
This is all speculation of course but it's also interesting to note both the CT and Model Y have this camera assembly and positioning. If it was only for Robotaxi, they wouldn't waste their money putting it on the CT as well - we all know Tesla don't like to spend money where they don't have to.![]()

Are they testing new cameras? Possibly.
