i have been looking for a way to reduce heat from direct sunlight on to the glass roof, tinting it from the inside was not an option due to fear of glass cracking with heat build up. For months i have this flimsy fabric shade which did not help much and it was ugly. i found Hanshow has a pre-cut PPF tint for glass roof and it works very well. i had a local tint shop install it so i don't know how hard it is to DIY.

I wonder if they changed the factory tinting of the roof because I've driven thousands of miles with 4 people in the truck in August 100 degree heat and no one ever said they were hot from the sun.

When the CB is running with the AC on Auto, you will never feel the Heat. When the CB is Parked outside during the summer, it gets dangerously hot very quick. Tesla knows that, that's why the Cabin Protection option is really good. The bad side of that option is baterry consumption. I would love to see the comparison data between tinted roof and no tint. Same outside temperature, same place, same time.

I did a ceramic tint on the roof and it helped a bunch.
In FL summers I will throw the clip on roof shade up if the truck is going to be sitting outside for days at a time, vampire drain is high enough as-is.

Mine too. Almost 2 years and no problems. I also live in Jersey, so not as much of a concern, except for maybe 3 months a year

I’m in Phoenix and my car is parked outdoors. So this film that’s linked goes on the outside of the glass? How does it hold up to washing?
Can you show a picture from the inside looking up? Curious how dark it is.

The 2005 CT roof is much more heavily tinted than prior CTs.

With the intense summer heat beating down on the outside of the glass roof, tinting will only delay the internal temperature from reaching 100+ by maybe a minute or two. So that alone isn't an economical reason to tint.

I chose to tint the roof so that, when in the truck, I don't need the fan speed at 6 to keep the cabin comfortable; instead, 2 or 3 keeps the truck cool.

I have the hanshow electrostatic sun shade in black. It’s about 3/8 thick insulation and it matches the black alcantara pretty good. It cling to the glass so it doesn’t sag down. The only problem was in the corners and very little bit of light leaks on the front edge. I went and bought some real thick black yarn and make some knots to tuck in the corners and stuffed some in the front edge and now it blocks all the light from the roof. I never cared for the glass roof so this was good for me, blocking all the light and keeps all the head room. I got mine on sale, don’t remember the exact price, maybe around $80, but I would still bought even without the sale.

The heat level will be identical over enough time. The real question is how fast does it heat up given different tinting. I'd bet ceramic tint heats up a LOT slower. But, at the end of the day, it's just as hot. It's easier on the AC to keep up when tinted though because the rate of increase in temperature is lower.

There are "I think" a couple different glass roof revisions. My Cyberbeast stock glass roof formula is rejecting over 80% of the infrared, not sure if less expensive models are doing the same. I didnt need to tint it at all for infrared. I did Xpel Prime XR Plus tint all windows including front window and that makes a HUGE diff in the vehicle.

Did the same tint, down here in the south it made such a difference, the 2-3 days I drove it before my tint appointment was brutal, like a solar oven.
They should come from the factory with a ceramic clear tint, then if people want to add color they can, but the glass itself will cook you like a science fair hot dog.
