26 has the newest version of the 4680 cell with 973 chemistry (vs 955) with both anode and cathodes being dry (vs just anode). There is a very slight ~1-1.5% capacity increase and a wider thermal window. The cells react slightly better in cold temps (less snowflake) and when DC charging go about 1c higher before thermal throttling. Some theoretical cycle improvements, but likely minimal.
When did this change occur? Did it happen for all CTs with 2026 VINs or after a certain production date? Is there a way to tell? Just curious.

Fall of 25, unclear when the exact change happened (Sept/Oct is a reasonable guess). In the day to day, it is such a minimal change that there was no real reason to advertise it. It is really less than the difference than the LG/Panasonic pack differences in 3/Y that is a pure lottery at this point.

The truck bed wall has ridges that matches the bed in the new models. I think the updated items are too minimal to notice day to day.

You are literally the first person I've ever heard who noticed this change. I've seen it on some 2025 models as well, and some without it. I'm curious what mine will end up with when it arrives in a week or so.

Had a 2024 and now a 2025. Wish there was a new Elon credit so I can get a 2026 as well. Will see what the future holds.

IIRC it took away a whole 1" of bed space. The horror!!

Don't forget the ”blue” “structural adhesive update. No more SS panels coming loose.

AI…

“Tesla is updating the Cybertruck with a new, robust
structural adhesive—specifically identified as Fuser 2098 or BETAMATE 2098—to fix issues where exterior stainless steel trim panels and components could detach due to environmental embrittlement. This high-strength, two-part epoxy is used in repairs to reattach bumpers and tow hitches to the aluminum frame, providing, and in some cases exceeding, the strength of traditional welding.“
Mine never came loose.

The Dry Cell (Anode and Cathode) is a huge change. Not so much from a performance standpoint although it should be slightly better range and charging speed.

It is the COGS drop by as much as 50% plus reduced manufacturing environmental concerns that motivated Tesla to go forward with this revolutionary battery cell chemistry change.

I for one am really looking forward to these new cells in my "In Production" 2026 Cybertruck.

Because of rubbers
I actually noticed the pedals were rubber on my 26 last night. I only even looked because I wanted to bask in the glory of the safety rivet... but there is no rivet!

I guess that's the trade off, no rivet, but no metal pedals.

So you're saying I have the "limited-edition rivet" 🥰

At our current rate, It’ll probably be 5 years before there’s more trucks without the rivet lol
