I have rust spots all over citrisurf alcohol noting will get them off should I write the service center? I’m kinda worried. What can I do to deal with it I’m in PA and there salt but I noticed these starting when I first got the truck. I knew there’d be finger prints and it would be hard to keep looking brand new clean but the rust is not acceptable.

Post a pic. There has been a history metal contamination on the CT, not the CT itself. You should search the forum a little better, this has been discussed thoroughly. I’d recommend trying iron remover or non-abrasive BKF

I doubt any CT has has a true rust problem, besides those damn lug nuts

I’ve been lurking on the board but saw this post and figured I’d share my experience. My issue was hitting a deep puddle with a ton of brake dust built up on the front brakes and had much bigger rust spots all down both sides of my truck. I tried citrisurf which worked but took a ton of elbow grease. However, citrisurf made the steel way whiter/brighter in the spots I buffed so it looked terrible. The only product that worked to take off the rust and normalize the steel color without a ton of work was barkeepers friend. I recommend talking to the service center but if you do anything yourself, go with the Barkeepers. Listen to the other folks here but wanted to share my experience.

It's called rail rust. Most CTs have them at delivery. If you bitch hard enough upon delivery (like me) they will polish them off for you. Or you can polish them off yourself. Search for rail rust.

This came up early on and was pretty much debunked. Have you tried Bar Keepers Friend and Windex? Go watch the Out of Spec Detailing review on the Cybertruck. It’s probably a couple years old now. I watched it, got those products, and cleaned my truck. I have since done the same once or twice more. It really does the job.

Citrisurf is more of a degreaser and good for passivation to boost chromium of the stainless. Also pricey.

BKF is a good stainless steel cleanser, good for stains and oils. Potentially removes Passivation layer. Pick the foam for least abrasives.

iron remover good for… the ferrous deposits that your picture shows

you’d likely benefit from a treatment of both BKF and iron remover. The CT will also have oils from manufacturing BKF is great for. If you already have the Citrisurf I’d spray that on last. Follow the specific directions for all. Might need a few passes of the iron remover. If you have a nice floor park somewhere that you don’t care about. You should not have to do this frequently, once degreased and decontaminated a light soap should be more than sufficient. Some even use dawn.

The stainless will be low maintenance in the long run. The learning curve is not too bad. Once you get the initial treatments you can kinda forget about it. This obviously depends on where you live.

I was worried about how to keep the truck looking nice and considered using a super graphing waxes and even considered a wrap. Does’t need anything more that a regular wash and wax. Just sign up for monthly unlimited Auto Car Wash and pay for the super Graphene wax. The brushs burnish and takeoff those little rust spots after going thru a few times. I tried to use wax and clean it by hand, but their Is no easy way to get a nice uniform finish that you get by going thur

the automatic car wash.

I wash it at least once a week. Probably close to 100 times already. Always looks great.

I purchased some Citrisurf 77 for the oxidation but sounds like I might need Iron X. Time to watch the Out Of Spec detailing again…
