Are you saying real world winter range is 250? We only have two superchargers in our area. I might drive 90 miles one way without a supercharger. These are all rural highways, so I can either go 55 or 95 mph.

Im really looking into range insight, real world for the winter.
If you have 240W charging at home you will find range anxiety a non-issue unless towing. As far as the full dry cell batteries, they are going into all new Cybertruck vehicles. The advantages are mostly lower cost to manufacturer but they are also believed to provide better performance (range, charging speed, and longevity) and are more environmentally friendly to manufacture (if you are one of those oddballs that cares about the environment).

Fellow sconi, newly fresh from across the boarder and also new to Tesla/EV. I had an AWD for a year. Kept wanting more and made the leap to the Beast last Spring. Worth it. But I also plan to keep this vehicle for 10+ years. Cold weather effect is real, but despite an earlier post, I feel the computer does a great job at giving real world arrival estimates adjusting for wind and temp. Despite traveling all around the Midwest, I have yet to run into an issue with access. Which includes a fresh trip down to NE last week during 35 mile an hour prevailing wind, a 10 degree temp and 1300lbs of payload. Also for reference, my commute and errands roughly have me at about 2.25 hours of drive time per day without the need for charge, majority of which is going 80mph on 94.

So feasibility for you, it can be done. Especially with the planned addition of two more superchargers in Ashland and Rhinelander.

Should you buy now? If you're financing, I'd wait 15 days and see what end of quarter deals they come up with. If not, I'd just pull the trigger.

Btw AWD was/is great. And really the more sensible option. I just like to go fast.

Def of sconi: lover of scones?

I was in the ILTGF (I love to go fast) club for nearly 60 of my driving age years. Now, FSD on Madmax mode is too much. Guess I'd prefer to spend the rest of my retirement years not in the hospital or jail ... so DM it was.:)

Wisconsinite. But I do love a good scone.. It's still a little hard to stomach saying that out loud. I'm working through it. Grok tells me I've made great progress.

It will be the best purchase decision you've ever made in your life. Don't sweat resale values because 1. vehicles are not investments and 2. you will not want to sell it.

Regarding range & battery quality - 340 miles is pretty real-world in fair weather, maybe 300 in the dark of winter. This is plenty of range and please do not compare it to gas vehicles because of this very important point: "refueling" behavior is completely different. The "refueling" behavior of EVs is very similar to phone charging behavior, you plug in your phone most nights even if you have plenty of battery left, and you start every day with a full battery. This is not the case with gas trucks/cars.
Regarding battery quality, you will not find a better battery design in the world when taking into account safety, BMS quality / range estimation accuracy etc.

I used to drive a Lightning and my wife a Model Y. Tesla's most basic technology makes other OEM's seem like a joke, I couldn't take it so I upgraded to the CT.

If you buy a 220VAC charger for your home you'll find that its very hard to "run out" of charge.
Best reply so far! So true. Charge it every night and forget about it.

We had a terrible cold snap for two weeks and I did my 260 mile loop to check on the old folks and still had 13% battery from fully charged. Get a universal charger and PowerShare and have battery back up for your house as well. It’s a Cybertruck superpower
If you don't want to spend the money on power share can just put 50 amp generator inlet plug connected to main service panel and plug into truck and it will power 48 amps in your house

And have none of the functionality of automatic switching when no one is there, power monitoring, switching charging by app and risk voiding your warranty among other things. Do you own a Cybertruck?

Right now, Tesla has the best batteries overall. In the FUTURE, I believe people will be able to buy upgraded battery packs with more range and better technology-like Solid State etc. It will be an EASY SWAP to the new tech…eventually! 😃
I hope you're right about that ... but we have friends who have a 2014 Model S with free supercharging for life. Although they could afford a new one they will keep that car till it dies. BTW, 12 years and 135000 miles later it still gives them 80% of the original range.

I’m not sure if/how you managed the recent Arctic blast, but having PowerShare was a true gift when my power went out at 3 am and was restored at noon the next day. Didn’t have to go down and manually switch anything. Also what if you are gone on vacation with deep freezers? Let all of that melt ? It’s hard for me to reckon how people can spend $80k and not pony up another $2k for what is truly a godsend for disaster management. Also it provides real time power usage . It’s well worth the money.
