Should I order a Cyberbeast now or wait to see if and when the better batteries come out? I'm in northern Wisconsin and need as much range as possible in the winter. I don't need one today, but I also don't want to wait if Tesla is not looking to update the Beast in the near future.

How well do the trucks hold their value for trade-ins? Say two years?

I'm new to Tesla, and I'm not familiar with their tendencies.

Thank you for the reply.

Any insight into the better range batteries?

Unless you are driving more than 250 miles a day, then the range will be plenty, just charge at night. If you drive 250 miles or more a day, you‘re not in the EV market.

Are you saying real world winter range is 250? We only have two superchargers in our area. I might drive 90 miles one way without a supercharger. These are all rural highways, so I can either go 55 or 95 mph.

Im really looking into range insight, real world for the winter.

Real world is much higher, but some days you might drive more, some days less. Almost all people drive way less than that on average. That’s 91,000 miles a year. At 250 a day, you’ll make it home with a good 20-30 percent even in cold, and still have enough for an another trip in case of emergency. So unless you commute 250 miles a day, then battery life won‘t be a problem.

If you make a practice of waiting for the next best thing, you’ll never get to enjoy “the NOW”! My CyberBEAST is awesome HOWEVER, with FSD driving me around 96% of the time, if I were to buy another CT, it would be logically better to get the AWD unless you don’t care about the reduced range and buying tires more often-THEN GET THE BEAST! 😅😅😅

It will be the best purchase decision you've ever made in your life. Don't sweat resale values because 1. vehicles are not investments and 2. you will not want to sell it.

Regarding range & battery quality - 340 miles is pretty real-world in fair weather, maybe 300 in the dark of winter. This is plenty of range and please do not compare it to gas vehicles because of this very important point: "refueling" behavior is completely different. The "refueling" behavior of EVs is very similar to phone charging behavior, you plug in your phone most nights even if you have plenty of battery left, and you start every day with a full battery. This is not the case with gas trucks/cars.
Regarding battery quality, you will not find a better battery design in the world when taking into account safety, BMS quality / range estimation accuracy etc.

I used to drive a Lightning and my wife a Model Y. Tesla's most basic technology makes other OEM's seem like a joke, I couldn't take it so I upgraded to the CT.

If you buy a 220VAC charger for your home you'll find that its very hard to "run out" of charge.

Speed is what greatly reduces range, especially in winter. If you have a choice, staying at 55-60MPH will give you the greatest range, and using FSD as well, as it will try to keep a steady speed (mostly). Why would you want to spend a lot of extra money on the CyberBeast? The newer lower cost Cybertruck is $60K, and is pretty much the same vehicle, unless you are an accelration king/queen, and in fact gets more range than the beast.. and since you will find you are using FSD %95 of the time, the acceleration will not matter. Buy the lower cost model and put the extra money you would have spent on the beast into TSLA stock, you will thank me in 10 years :)

The new dry batteries i believe are already being put into the cybertucks but its to save tesla money and bring production in-house. The benefit isn't on the consumer side unless it causes cybertuck price cuts. Im not aware of them trying to release a higher mileage battery pack
Right now, Tesla has the best batteries overall. In the FUTURE, I believe people will be able to buy upgraded battery packs with more range and better technology-like Solid State etc. It will be an EASY SWAP to the new tech…eventually! 😃

I know tesla low balls the crap out of a non-tesla trade in. They basically give you the FU price. On tesla trade ins I have seen anywhere from fair to FU prices.
They gave me the exact Kelly Blue Book very good condition price when I traded in my Tundra in Texas. More than the local Chevy dealer would for a c2500 hd diesel.

We had a terrible cold snap for two weeks and I did my 260 mile loop to check on the old folks and still had 13% battery from fully charged. Get a universal charger and PowerShare and have battery back up for your house as well. It’s a Cybertruck superpower
