Of course another wicked Cybertruck feature but I don’t really know how to describe it. Except for it is so easy to back up. It’s not impossible but it’s hard to jack knife the trailer. It’s unbelievable backing up the response when you’re backing up it just makes it so easy back up.

The ride Height reverts to low when towing and it would be nice to have an option for medium.
basically, I have no idea how just a simple truck can make towing so dang easy.
cheat code, deselect trailer mode and use fsd. Ct doesn’t calculate mileage for trailer mileage when u do that.

In other words, plan for 40-60% more battery usage or you will be drafting a semi truck to the next stop. At 50 mph, it’s about 1 mile per 1%

yes, I was the ct towing a trailer, drafting a semi truck for reduced drag and making to the next charge station haha

In trailer mode, the truck should not automatically switch to low from medium. I set up a towing specific profile with TACC, lower to entry height disabled, ... one inconvient thing is re-linking that to my phone so it sticks when I get out and back in.

The key is to make small steering inputs and you can thread the needle when backing up!

I would like to see Supercharge station limits lifted to 100% when your CT is in towing mode.

I am in So Cal, where there are numerous supercharge stations - all which limit charging to 80%. That range loss should be enough reason to increase the limit for towing.

The monstrous instant torque allows you to forget your pulling a load or trailer...Really provides peace of mind. [But Use wisely]

I was in Hollywood a couple of months ago and I was able to charge my CT to 100% with no problem. Is that something brand new?

Just got back from a 3-week trip to Florida from Michigan. Found the sweet spot for charging is 10-65%. If you have trailer brakes they are disabled if you come out of trailer mode. We averaged about $0.29 per mile pulling a 21ft SylvanSport VAST which is not very aerodynamic. As we got further South h we averaged about 750 wh/mile. In Michigan was 890 to 950 wh/mile. Took 3 days each direction by choice to keep the trip comfortable. The capability of the truck is awesome. I have a 2025 AWD.

The charge limit slider is disabled?
Note: you can get hit with congestion fees when actively charging above 80 at busy locations.

It is from my experience in Orange and San Bernardino county, in the past year the super chargers declared a 'congestion' fee in addition to limiting the charge to 80% 'as set by the charging station'.

PS: there is LOTS, LOTS and LOTS of Tesla's in Orange County CA, you see about 3 in 10 cars Tesla's down here.

FYI: I have actually tried putting my CT into 'Tow Mode' before connecting to Superchargers, and they still impose 80% and congestion fees.

As for living in CA - it's definitely the 'land of fruits & nuts'....the base of those working here are conservative, quite and keep their heads down....then there is the loud minority. Our governor is actually a paid actor, as is most of the government in the state.

Also, it is a fact from the NIH that people with mental problems tend to live on or in costal areas - that is NOT a joke. And CA has 800 miles of coastline.

We're planning on driving the CT over to LA for the World Cup next month...80% is going to be problematic. I'm hoping that's only for OC and not the whole state

AI Overview

Tesla does not have a strict state-wide charging limit in California, but they do employ 80% Supercharger "congestion fees" at busy stations. To optimize battery health, Tesla recommends a daily charge limit of 80%. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Key Takeaways for California Drivers:
  • Congestion Fees: At busy Superchargers, if your battery is above 80%, you may be charged fees to encourage freeing up the stall.
  • Daily Limits: For daily driving, Tesla advises setting the limit to 80% to balance range and battery longevity.
  • 100% Charging: Only charge to 100% when necessary, such as for long trips.
  • LFP Batteries: If you have an LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery, you should charge to 100% regularly.
  • Flex Alerts: During peak grid demand (4 p.m. to 9 p.m.), California officials may suggest avoiding charging to reduce strain, though this is not a mandatory penalty. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

The 80% is reported as 'Limited' by the 'charging' station - not the dashboard charging menu.

You *might* be able to charge higher with a congestion fee - ~$0.5/ $1.00 per minute with a 5 minute grace period.

However, Tesla is quite capricious in their stated policies and only consistent in their inconsistencies. I base that entirely on the appalling broad response to the PSC failure issue - which tells me they do not enforce a consistent 'customer' service support, nor messaging.

Every software update brings a revised policy.

I have free supercharging, so I don't get charged for idle fees
