Wonder if one could get the styrofoam insert they use to put this in a spare for the kit.

I have 2 of these kit. They came with my optional factory full size spare tire kit that's mounted inside the vault. It's a great all in 1 combo.
I'm about to order a 3rd set for my other CB.

I used credits to get the spare tire which came with the tool kit. Just recently used the kit to put on the spare tire of my boat trailer after a blowout. After using the bottle jack for the trailer, I decided just to carry my full size floor jack in the back with the spare. It worked, but took far longer and was more frustrating than it needed to be. If you have a spare taking up room in the back of the truck or are considering getting one, do yourself a favor and put together a changing kit that is gonna make changing it easy, or get a AAA membership.

I'm already set up with a DeWalt tire change kit with straight bar and torque wrench, bottle jack in a case, and 3 chunks of 4x4 blocking. All fit in the sub trunk with room to spare for tow ropes etc.

I’ve had mine for a year (came with spare tire). I’ve used it a few times, both at home and on the trail. It is good, works fine, tight little kit. But it’s not tall enough if you have big larger tires. I add a jack (ARB Recovery) base (pictured). In hindsight, I would not have purchased it, but instead purchased an aftermarket jack elsewhere. That said I’m not gonna go buy another one. This one will suffice for the time being.

I clicked the link. And laughed. And laughed again.

For that price I could put together a much better kit myself, instead of just tossing in my breaker bar, socket, etc., when I'm going somewhere BCAA won't want to find me. I have a second set of wheels and tires, so one is generally strapped in the vault anyway.

Those gloves must be really special... 😜

I figured I'd end up with one one of the kits due to eventually buying a spare tire kit. Do I need it? Nope. Only tool I don't already have is the wheel cover remover. Where are the wheel chocks? I already have a suitable 20 ton jack, breaker bar, torque wrench, Dewalt impact wrench, battery charger for it, rope type tire plug kit, t-plug type tire plug kit, a few pairs of gloves, a blanket that I don't care if it gets dirty, and a bunch of blocks of wood.

T-plugs are a circular patch with a plug stem sticking out the center of the patch like this kit at amazon has. I forget who made my kit, but they instead use a string for pulling the stem through. I got it in a proper farm store. You need access to the inside of the tire. So half dismount the tire. Then you ream out the hole like you do for a rope plug. Scuff up and clean up the inside of the tire. Apply the rubber cement like it says in the kit. Then pull the plug stem through the hole so the round patch is against the inside surface of the tire. cut the excess stem off. If the hole is near the edge of the tread, one of these will get you to civilization, and maybe home. They are considered a permanent patch if installed in the middle area of the tread.

I normally would quickly stick a rope plug in and try it. If the tire still looses air, put on the spare tire. Then patch the tire with a T-plug when next in camp or at home. In the long run I always replaced rope plugs with t-plugs, and I would get the tire balanced.

For mounting and dismounting tires, get a proper set of tire irons. They make doing the job easy. One of the few tools I allowed in my emergency kit that didn't have other uses. A high lift jack is a great bead breaker when properly used. Unfortunately Musk didn't design the front and rear bumpers for high lift jack use. Done properly a bottle jack can also be used as a bead breaker, but can we get enough height under the CT to use it that way.

Gotcha. Makes sense. What’s your backup plan for a flat tire?
It's a multi-part plan (in order):

1) While driving, know where my tires are, look where I'm going. Drive deliberately, use appropriate tires and adjust air pressures for conditions. Too low of a tire pressure increases the chances of many types of punctures.

2) High-volume air compressor with a well-stocked plug kit (different lengths and diameters of plugs for different punctures). This can plug almost any puncture well enough to get out of the backcountry, especially when paired with the compressor. If you can't get the plug inserted, you either have too big of a plug, didn't ream the hole hard enough or forgot to use lube. The kit should include spare valves and valve stems, needle nose pliers, grippy gloves, spare reamer and insertion tips, etc.

3) Cell phone

4) Starlink connectivity

5) Water, food, warm clothes, sun protection, sleeping gear, sturdy walking shoes/boots, etc.

In over 20 years of off-roading I've never needed to go beyond plan #1. I have plugged plenty of motorcycle tires on backcountry roads, miles from anywhere with no cell service, but I run motorcycle tires that are made more for grip and a sensitive feel vs. puncture resistance.

Probably the most important thing when plugging a tire: Remember, you are just trying to prevent the air from leaking out. A "can do" attitude goes a long ways. A piss-poor attitude often results in failure.

I’m 53 years old and I’ve had exactly one flat tire in my entire life. But that one flat tire was in the middle of the fucking boonies in Central Ohio on a cold winter night.

I will never deal with that shit ever again.

I have PTSD from that episode.

Therefore, my question to you, Good, sir, is what is your recommended plug and or patch kit for the CT?

Amazon.com: Dynaplug Tubeless Tire Repair Tool Kit, Aluminum Pro Xtreme, Made in USA : Automotive
Amazon.com: CyberTruck On Board Air Adapter Accessory Air Hose Chuck Nozzle : Sports & Outdoors

Used it once. worked perfectly! I ditched the coiled hose and the big air chuck, and went with more compact arraignment.

and yes i have a pair of gloves.
Dynaplugs are better than nothing, but not nearly as versatile as a low tech gummy worm type plug kit (I like the Safety Seal brand worms).
