Many 1ton and above trucks have marker lights on the roof. Could this be considered a marker light when dimmed down?

Marker lights are DOT approved. The Tesla light bar (and all other light bars) are not DOT approved, regardless of dimming level.

You can take your chances with running it at 1%, but you can't change its legality. It's not legal on road. FWIW 1% is still kinda blinding if you look straight at it. I checked this yesterday.

Light bar wouldn't pass even if amber, indicator light for vehicles over 80 inches wide (excluding mirrors) are 3 centered lamps with 6-12 inch spacing.

Legally, DOT approved lights aren't really a thing. DOT labeling is the manufacturer saying the lights are FMVSS compliant (luminance, area, color, beam).
True compliance requires them to be mounted and the combination is then self-certified by the vehicle manufacturer .

Probably not, but is definitely not legal in Kentucky and most likely other states as well.

Get you pulled over probably not. Easy fix it ticket or add on violation to any other offense definitely a possibility.

I’m working one more angle to source the brackets. If that fails, I’m using VHB and will call it good. I’ve also got the V3, so no soldering.

ETA: I just did the math, and I’ll be about $700 under what Telsa charges for the LB+install.

It's amazing how much the government is telling us what is legal and what is it not, I think they got way too much involved in our daily life. This is the land of the free, sit seems like the land of the free is imposing too many legalities in mundane things.

Getting it installed on June 25th with almost a 3 hour drive home after. I will monitor kwh/m on the way home.
Does anyone have an idea how long install takes?
