Well good day or night CT owners and I am back for a day or two to look at CT's decorated for 4th of July as I said I would and then to look for the holiday. It seems there was just one post of a person with a few flags. Guess 4th of July is just not the holiday to dress up a CT.

Since I am here I scanned posts going back a week or so and just a few thoughts and feel free to just brush them off.

The new model Y L will be at least $64K with destination charges and that does not include I assume Tax, Title, and Tag. It is a bit longer and higher (not much) but I guess that is the best Tesla can do to make a real SUV or what they consider a SUV. Not sure why they keep the old model Y as since they are so close really in size just call it a refresh and retire the old one. Most sales once the price comes back down will most likely be people who would be Model Y buyers anyway.

I see the CT is still having many owners having PCS issues and that will continue. As for a recall as some have asked for, Tesla will not do that for TWO reasons that I can think of right away. Number one is the bad press that they do not want and to put off the few 1000's of people thinking about the Cybertruck in any given quarter. Second is that they would have to really ramp up production of the PCS modules and actually figure out how to fix it right and last for a long time. So CT owners just know that even if you have Rev. G it can still fail (some have according to posts) and you will have a "Brick" on your hands for a month or two till your SC gets it fixed. At least they will give you a loaner and free supercharging. But the down side at least to me is that it is just not like driving or letting FSD drive your vehicle you call yours.

There still seems to be some (not many) quality issues showing up as the CT's age. You had the cantrail rail issue which is mostly fixed, dry wiper issues still for some or many, panel fit issues on a few trucks being delivered, rubber seals in areas coming up or have loosen up or shrunk and last but not least the Tonneau cover fix finally done right. I go back to one of my original posting long ago that the CT was never really put into long term testing in the real world and affects on parts. If it was some of these issues would have been corrected before production started years ago. Even the official Tesla light bar went through issues and they finally the did the smart thing and used a few bolts to make sure it was secure. Not sure why they had such a hangup on just using glue on panels and such. As a ex mechanical engineer I would not have put my trust in just glue no matter what the color or spec's. Would have strongly suggested upon design stage that there be at lease one bolt for each side to help secure it 100%. If the unit is properly designed the bolt is hidden and not even noticed.

Lastly I am sure you all know that CT's and FSD run on a software program. Any software can be hacked if the person(s) or group want to, even Tesla's with there strong safeguards. But one of the reasons new minor issues may crop up is as Tesla adds or adjusts an item/feature the new code may affect another part of the code in some instances. Sure it may not be serious but from the posts it does happen.

Be safe CT owners and keep sentry mode on if at all possible. Any thoughts when you might finally hit 100,000 sold?

Sincerely,

Ziggy, Mavrick Hybrid owner (Fords about to reach 500,000 sold)
Still looking for a reasonable priced Deloran Gus.......

The margins on the stretched Model Y are much higher so it has big economic benefits to Tesla if regular Model Y buyers switch to the longer version. They will not retire the shorter Model Y for many reasons:

1) Keeping a lower pricepoint for those who can't afford the bigger version.
2) Having a shorter version for people who live in cities or have cramped garages.
3) Because almost all the parts from suppliers are identical between the two vehicles, it costs very little to maintain both pricepoints.

Second is that they would have to really ramp up production of the PCS modules and actually figure out how to fix it right and last for a long time.
Tesla doesn't manufacture the PCS modules, a supplier does.
