checked my notifications yesterday and there were two unable to charge notifications from 5 and 6 days ago.
On those days I was able to successfully charge. I've been charging at 24 amps instead of 32 or 48. I have the 1777777-T2-G PCS2 module as checked by VIN number look up part number.
Did it not actually fail to charge because charging was set to only 24 amps?
I could boost up the charge rate to 32 amp, but my thinking is keep it at 24 so as to make it not fail sooner.
Tesla has up dated the "charge connector, GTW_w087 . does that have anything to do with it?
Is it worthwhile for me to go into the deeper service mode and look for other notifications concerning PCS2?. And how do you do it?.
thanks

I charge almost exclusively at 240vac 20 amps and I am on my 3rd PCS. Charging at a higher amperage may make it fail faster, but slower doesn't mean it will be protected.

Holy moly, 3rd PCS? I've only used 48A for 5 mins at a Tesla service center. The rest has been free SuperCharging. What's the latest rev at?

The benefit of charging at 32 amps (or higher) is that you'll very quickly see when the PCS2 actually fails (because it will drop to 24 amps).

Whether or not reducing charge amperage extends the period until failure is an open question. I'm doubtful.

But, yes, Service Mode is by far your most reliable indicator of issues or potential issues. You get into it via SOFTWARE -> touch and hold the Cybertruck script for several seconds, until it blinks once -> then type in SERVICE in the password dialog. Once in Service Mode, go to alerts.

Be aware that most alerts/faults are transient and/or spurious, so don't be alarmed. But when a legitimate and persistent fault is present, it will be noted there.

Not true, my phone and dash both notified me of a mosfet health check error and my max charge rate was 24 amp (while I was charging at 20 amps) when one side of the PCS went down.

I do agree on the skepticism that a lower charge rate will preserve the PCS longer.

Yea. My first pcs died 3 days into ownership.

Glad to hear you got a notification. Alas, the PCS2 has multiple failure modes/indications. Many (most?) do not get any kind of notification through the app or the normal user interface when it begins failing. But the drop to 24-amps is usually a dead giveaway, and that's shown immediately in the app, even absent an error message.

When mine failed a few weeks ago the only tell-tale was the 24-amp charging. A quick trip into Service Mode confirmed it.

I got a lot of VCLEFT_a096_HVBATCON_MIA in service mode on days times that I was not charging like 4 times today. The screen also had "no active alerts" at the top. What does it mean?

Service Mode presents LOTS of transient/spurious error messages. The vast majority aren't anything to worry about (including, likely, your _a096 fault). That's partly because Tesla is very conservative with their software (a good thing, IMO), partly because of inevitable software bugs, and partly because of simple things like race conditions in the code.

Using Service Mode is kinda like using a bore scope on a rifle the first time. You're horrified.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you begin to see actual symptoms.
