Thanks!!
My 3rd Tesla and if there's one thing that I learned it's the delivery date can change drastically anytime.

I think morning of July 15, bunch of people got their dates pushed back. Mine too. But then somehow few hours later "Your advisor has a new message for you" popped up from the Tesla app, and it said VIN assigned.

I hope you get yours soon.
Congrats! One more question before you sail off into the sunset. What was your RN#? Did you have a previous RN#, prior to the $59k window?

5k trucks ordered max

These are fun discussions and here's my take, but it's not really worth the paper this is written on.
  • CleanTechnica website estimates 30,000
  • @Mikec3399 estimates 18,500
  • @Alpine thinks 5,000
  • I'm thinking we're tracking in the forum 1% of the orders, or 15,000

Couple of discussion points:

Tesla delivered roughly 7,263 CTs in the first half of this year, which probably included a handful of $59k deliveries in June.

Extrapolating the 1H delivery numbers, and ignoring the SAWD, 2026 delivery volume would be in the 15,500 range, down from 20,327 in 2025.

I don't know the breakdown of PAWD vs CBs but I'd guess there are many more PAWDs sold, so I'll go with a 4:1 split, or 12,400 PAWDs and 3,100 CBs set to be delivered in 2026.

We don't expect the $69k SAWD to have the demand of the $59k (obviously) due to the narrow cost delta with the PAWD. The RWD was $10k less and only sold 173 before Tesla pulled the plug. I would expect the $69k SAWD to make up similar sales numbers as the CB annually, or about 3,000-5,000.

The $59k CT was cheap enough to open the market up to a new set of buyers and CT fans who held off on original reservations due to the increased cost. I would guess most of these $59k buyers were previous Tesla owners or CT fans who watched this forum and not random people who just decided to buy a CT in February. Tesla didn't advertise the deal and most of the sales staff weren't aware.

Tesla's earnings call is tomorrow so hopefully Elon can give us some insight, but I'm holding at my 15,000 $59k number, but I hope it's more like Alpine's estimate of 5,000.

My delivery window changed again. it was 1-30 Sep now its Nov 13-Jan 22. As these change it feels every couple days what is the protocol for updating the tracker? I'm trying to be patient but damn these used CT's on Tesla.com gets tempting.... I just really want a new one because who knows how the batteries were cared for on the used ones.

Stay strong! As @-CYBRG- just taught us, date changes can be drastic and deliveries will happen when you least expect it.

I'll keep updating the tracker but to date, we're still trying to figure out Tesla's delivery logic.

Congrats!

I’m almost at 30 days of SAWD ownership and can’t say enough good things about the truck. I just returned from a 180 mile round trip and the smooth ride AND sound system are great. The chassis engineers nailed the suspension tuning.

How is the exterior fit and finish/panel alignment on your example? Everything looks tight on the drivers side in the photo.

Yes,. pretty much everything checks out. Few days ago I saw a post where a CB delivery was rejected because of horrendous build issues. I was nervous - but thankfully mostly everything is ok. If you take a look at the passenger side frunk area, you will see it sits just a bit lower and not flush. They said to open a ticket to have it adjusted.

I drove it on the same roads I take everyday and I can tell you in "comfort" setting, it's quieter and noticably smoother than my M3P. No complaints there at all.

For sound, I wasn't expecting much given I experienced premium CT sound which is unbelievable - but I was pleasantly surprised. It comes very close to my M3P premium sound. With the bass turned up, it's a great system for everyday listening. Yes, you don't feel the bass on your body like in the premium but I hardly ever listen to music like that anyway.

Thanks for the feedback. I also have a M3P (2024) and love the sound system. If the SAWD is at least 80% of the M3Ps sound quality, I'll be very satisfied.

@Mini2nut
Q for you - I understand that the base CT doesn't have frunk open on approach. But you are still able to open the frunk by pressing the center button right?

If I unlock the CT by pressing the door switch, then the button works for opening and closing as it should. But I noticed if I just walk up to it, the button doesn't do anything.

How does yours behave in this regard?

Given there are virtually zero SAWD for anyone to try, I tired to get a feel for the SAWD sound system by trying the base Model Y. It's horrible. I was instantly convinced I had to change the order to premium.

But the base CT sound system is NOTHING like the base Juniper's. Night and day. Compared to premium sound in highland M3, I would say the clarity, loudness and bass is very similar - except you can kinda tell the directions where the sound is coming from may be a little limited compared to M3P which surrounds you. But that's because you are looking for differences and you experienced M3P premium sound.
You'll not be disappointed.

So James, looking at your Vehicle list, do you still own the FS CT and the Lighting? Curious if you're replacing anything or just adding to the fleet.
