That looks great. No more fingerprints or blotchy coloration. Do you know if later you decide to wrap the truck, does the clear coating need to be removed? How much was their fee?

Similar-ish to a wrap, but keeps the original look, nice.

I imagine (having never used the product myself) most of the work is prepping the metal before coating, as I would assume that things like water spots and the like would be locked in if not removed. Maybe even a pass with something like barkeepers to remove any tarnish as well. For sure a lot of labor.

I can attest that it is a LOT of prep! About 90% of the work is prep and 10% application.

And the lowest I have heard for a wrap is $4k, $6-8 for PPF.

On the up side, from a DIY point of view, you could tackle one panel at a time over some period of time. If it is super similar to the original look it would not look as odd as wrapping one panel at a time :)

"Tonight i'm going to do the bumper"
"Tonight i'm going to do the trim along both top edges"
etc

The only problem with that is that when you are using the BKF or any cleaner with acid (which lightens the metal), you have to make sure you get the panels the same color which is easier before you coat. But you can certainly do each of the four sides a day. Here is what it looks like with one panel done and one not. Front door is bare, rear door is coated.

Looks great! You keep the original factory look with minimal maintenance.

The product is no different than painting. It‘s 90% preparation, 10% application for a top notch finish.

I ordered and will be getting my kit tomorrow. I’m going to try and tackle this project myself. I was able to do the BKF/Windex when I first got the truck so hoping I can handle this and save a couple grand. Anyone here try to do this themselves?

I'm open to the idea of doing the coating instead of a clear PPF wrap, my big issue is that I am not very good with detail oriented handiwork like that. I'm just not a craftsman. So I know that I would screw up the application, but if I could pay somebody to do it then it might be worthwhile. I want to maintain the stainless look. My concern with the clear PPF wrap is that it's either glossy or matte, and both of those kind of alter the appearance.

How have your results been with respect to fingerprints, water spots, etc?
