I really don't want to get out the car and open or show them how to open the door while picking up someone not familiar with CT.

It would be nice if they software implemented opening doors from the screen, but they would have to change the door popper behavior too. The door popper will stay extended until the door is manually opened a bit, before retracting. Two things I miss from my Model X are the auto door controls (closing all doors from keyfob) and the umbrella the Falcon Wing Doors make when it's raining and I'm trying to buckle in a kid in the back seat.

I understand and agree with the complaint. Auto doors would be nice or just the ability to pop the door from the screen like suggested above. However, I just roll the window down and tell them to push the little light or dash mark to open the door.

I had this same question because I'm sure when I get mine I will have trouble dropping my kids off at the carpool lane. My plan was to use my wife's label maker to make little stickers that say "push here" so people know where to push to open the doors.

I was picking up my niece yesterday from the airport . She never saw CT before, I open the frunk to let her put her bag into it. So far All elegant, then after the lid closed, she was totally lost how to open the door, I was trying to find the controls on the screen the same time, of course it wasn’t there. Then I had to get out the car and to the other side and show her how to open.

ALL under photo taking of numerous cellphones around us, lots of them. Felt so embarrassing tbh.

I take the child safety lock off briefly and my daughter just pops the door open from the inside when in the carpool line for drop off.

Contact Tesla and request the ability to release the door from inside. If enough people ask they will do it.

I'm afraid the human brain must have peaked and is already undergoing a significant decline if people can't look at the blank spot that is a door and use the process of elimination to conclude they have to push the only button in sight.

Is the truck too wide to lean over and press the interior button?

I just get out and demonstrate the process while trying to "gentlemanly", making sure I actually open and hold the door while they get on board.

Four usually good things come of it.
They learn how to open the door next time.
I get a chance to be old-school-courteous with the ladies.
I get a chance to chuckle at the guys' reaction.
And, I avoid getting their fingerprints on the truck.

I've only had an issue with this for one member of my family, my gen Z brother-in-law. I rolled the passenger window down and told him to press the white button. He found the button immediately and couldn't get the door open.

I kept telling him in as many different ways as I could think of to press the button, it's a physical button, but he couldn't get it through his head that it wasn't a capacitive touch button and wouldn't use enough force.

I literally had to get out of the truck and walk around to press the button for a 25 year old man. SMDH
