I will be refusing delivery unless they fix everything prior to payment, or they can refund my deposit. I am not after reselling the vehicle, so I don't care if I get it asap, or ever at this point. This shit is just insulting.
To each his own, and within your prerogative. I will tell you that driving the safest truck out there is priceless. Also, it's still really unique right now, and that won't last forever. If it bugs you that much though, and you want perfection, then definitely refuse it.

What I always laugh about is back in 2017, when we got our first Tesla (Model S), I read all the stories of body panel gaps, etc. And then it dawned on me...what did our current car (Jaguar F-Pace, a $70k+ car and close to $100k in 2024 dollars) panel gaps look like. As you can guess...they were awful! Never noticed, and looking at all the other F-Pace's I'd see, no one else cared either. TSLAQ really did a great job highlighting that one. BTW, by buddies new 2024 F-150's was worse...

Unfortunately Tesla leadership has never placed QC and top notch fit and finish as priorities for the company.

Although quality has improved since the early Model 3 days it can still be hit and miss.

If more Tesla customers rejected deliveries due to poor fit and finish it would send a message to the leadership team.

Tesla’s MO seems to be getting newly assembled vehicles out of the factories and let the SC’s deal with customer complaints regarding paint defects and assembly quality.

I just had a nice and short conversation with local Tesla rep and based on his suggestion, got this VIN refused. He (I assume) said that I am going back in a rapid que to have another vehicle assigned, hopefully more to my liking.
Nice! The unit in your video is quizzically bad even for Tesla…! Was everyone in a bad mood in Austin the day your truck was produced ?

Good deal. I wish this meant they will send this truck in for a serious pre sale fix up. But, they will likely pass it on to someone else.

I finally got to drive a CT yesterday. A good friend got his picked up on Monday. Here is what I noticed:
- gaps on his were much better, especially the rear is pretty much perfect, front was gapped evenly, about 3mm all around. Windshield was aligned with faux door frames on top evenly on one side and only about 3mm below on the other, which would make me happy.
- Power, it has less than my F150 Lightning did, at least what is felt on the road. Probably because CT states 9600lb gross weight, when F150 was about 3000lb lighter.
- I did not like stalk less controls at all, but if this is the way of the future, I could get used to it.
- I loved the front visibility and the feel of bay window from our old house, where windshield is so far away, it feels like I am still at home.

BTW, while we were checking it out, his tonneau cover broke, plastic seal between two of the planks popped out and did not want to go back in.
All in all, not a bad product, definitely pleasant at first look.

the cybertruck almost 300 lbs lighter than the f150 lightening. At least the duel motor is. CB is 240 lbs more than the duel motor

gross weight is not curb weight. The cybertruck is not 3000 lbs heavier than the f150 lightening…

I would refuse to take the delivery at this condition as well. I always confused how large the build quality difference can be among them. I checked the one in the near SC showroom before taking the delivery. Load…I would felt embarrassing if i am Tesla to put such product on the floor. But the one I received is way much better, only has 2-3 very minor cosmetic issues which Tesla promised to correct them without any hesitation.

I feel the majority of CT is build through the automated assembly line but final step of panel assembly must be done by different groups of workers by hand. So some truck build showed superior craftsmanship like old time, some build like it was their first one ever made. Unbelievable.

But the driving this machine is truely amazing.

The poor SC tech’s get the pleasure of handling all of the fit and finish complaints that should have been addressed at the assembly plant.

SS panel misalignment, panel scratches, replacing scuffed plastic parts, etc.

The Cybertruck is very good about squeaks and rattles. Mine is solid and quiet as a vault inside. And I've beat it up on rugged unpaved roads for about 400 miles. Still tight as a drum.

Tesla builds a very high-quality product, but they focus on the longevity and durability, not minor aesthetic imperfections. OCD people hate that. The OP's truck is on the outside edge of what they are letting leave the factory, if he doesn't want it, someone else will. Tesla knows that, which is why they don't spend too much money getting the aesthetics perfect, they know they have to keep them affordable. Because they really crammed a ton of value into one vehicle. Yes, it's a superb vehicle, but if no one can afford them, they won't sell many of them.
"tesla is very good about squeaks and rattles because my truck doesn't squeak and rattle"

cool, that doesn't make it the norm. My truck developed 3 rattles and the center console squeak over the first month and a half of driving on smooth roads. The upper interior trim on the sides being held only by those loose white plastic clips will allow rattles over time.

It's in service now for some minor things and I was able to show the master tech all of the rattles and creaks. we will see if they are addressed or if they return.

My only point being, your anecdote is no better than mine. My model Y also had a rattle in the tailgate that I spent days trying to fix and never could. service could never address it either. Does this mean all teslas will rattle? No. But your anecdote doesn't mean that most of them don't rattle either.

Hello and thank you for adding me to the forum. My delivery of CT is scheduled for this Wednesday.
So I went out to the Tesla boutique here in town and was told that it was not there, but at some storage lot. I was also told that I cannot get inside or drive it, until it is paid for in full. After some searching at the storage lot. I was able to locate my vin among 7 other trucks and this is what I saw:
I read some stories about bad build quality on the very early units but was hoping that by the time an average Joe gets one in Ohio, this would be all smoothed out.
Maybe I am expecting too much, but I cannot accept something as crooked as this and pay a $102k for it. The biggest concern is that windscreen seems to be mounted about 10mm lower than on a vehicle right next to mine. What do you think?
The thing you are looking at to measure the glass vs the upper exterior trim is not really a relevant thing to measure. That upper trim panel can be mounted very high or very low so that it blends nicely with the rest of the frame. That gap is almost certainly caused by the mounting position of the exterior trim and not that the glass is somehow seated lower than physically possible.

Not sure I would take it, but just wanted to mention that.

I didn't say Tesla was good about squeaks and rattles, I said Cybertruck was. And it's not based just upon me beating mine up for 400 miles over rugged terrain and remaining squeak and rattle free, I'm also basing it off a number of videos and posts where people and auto reviewers say the same thing, that the interior is remarkably quiet and subdued, even on rough roads.

Any vehicle can have a flaw that causes a rattle, my point is the Cybertruck is designed to avoid them. And, based upon many examples, despite yours, I would say it was successful. It doesn't mean no Cybertrucks will ever have a rattle or a squeak.
