I'm hearing some interesting chatter from people with reservations. Has anybody experienced/heard anything on these subjects?

Folks with very high reservation numbers getting FS invites?
Glad to hear, but is it open season now or is some kind of lottery taking place?

At least one instance of a reservation holder's RN being removed after FS invite is ignored?
Anybody experienced or heard this? I assumed your RN would remain in your account until the configuration became available. Would not expect it to vanish if the FS invite is ignored.
(update: Cannot be confirmed, Tesla says not true)

Well if you choose to pass when your turn is up not sure why your RN would be kept?

It might be kept because the person reserved A Cybertruck but not necessarily the most expensive Cybertruck. They should be allowed to put together a non-Foundation series truck someday.

Remember, the reservation is not for a FS. FS is an option on the reservation.

Tesla representatives have confirmed to people I know, that the reservation number stays with the owner's account until acted on and people can sit on it as long as they need to, and it is non-transferable to anyone else.

I know a few people who are waiting for various reasons (FS price, inflation effects, etc.) and they still have their order invitations waiting for them to 'Start Designing'.

I’d the interested to hear on the RN thing… I would expect 2-3x the FS buyers are sitting on invites and waiting to save $20k plus tax credits

Elon changed the process so many times, at first there were options, then there were no options, then he revealed FS out of the blue but it was never an option.

It's not Elon, but actually Tesla, and they've changed prices and options many times to navigate supply and demand, or to promote interest at times. It's called 'promotional marketing', except Tesla does it efficiently without wasting billions on MSM advertising that resonates only with a small percentage of those viewing. But every company does this and has done this, so it's not unique to Tesla and certainly not specific to Elon.

I have to agree that Tesla changing their pricing and terms is too frequent. True that ICE dealers and OEMs mess with the pricing all the time.
But the idea with a direct model is no more games. And the frequency and especially takebacks is too much. I think it creates mistrust with nervous consumers.

My understanding was that the a time limit for accepting the invitation was unknown. I remember when I received mine and I asked my long time sales advisor how long I had to respond and he basically said no one knows.
I can’t imagine not responding would wipe out your reservation. However, I have heard of at least one person who accidentally canceled his reservation by clicking in the wrong place.
So basically in action should have no consequence. Again, unless something has changed. There really doesn’t seem to be any reason for them to limit the time though.
By my calculation, it seems like maybe somewhere between 5 and 10 out of 100 reservations are accepting the invitation.

I just did you all a favor and cancelled my order. I actually just got my invite to order but for me the truck will not work. I pull a travel trailer and I would have to charge every 100 miles. I know I could wait for the trimotor but I’ve waited all these years like everybody else, but I’m in my70s and tired of waiting.
My Ram is just fine for me.

I have been sitting on my FS invite for exactly 3-months as of today. It has not disappeared.
