Configuration to VIN, four days?! (NJ)

Received my invite to configure on 5/30 through Long Term Shareholder program.

Submitted order: 5/30/24
Reconfigured and resubmitted: 5/31/24
Received VIN: 6/4/24

What is happening? VIN is the in 12,000's for a AWD. Maybe one got abandoned and reassigned? I'm not complaining mind you, just wasn't ready that quickly.

Could be... could be a lot of things.

A lot of these trucks are being railed out to different hubs. They could really be sitting at those distribution points for weeks before they get on a truck bound for one of the NJ locations. Then it could sit at the service center for a while before they decide to let you know its assigned and then available to you.
Some of these "older" VIN's could just be related to logistics inefficiency, especially mixed in with layoff's, the pedal recall, etc.

Or could be like you said, customer realized last minute they didn't want to pay for it / could not afford it. I would not be surprised if someone was excited to pick up their truck, then the night before they read all the (bad) news from the MSM and decided not to go through with the transaction. Sometimes I read that stuff and have my own doubts.

But then you read about the actual people that own them and restores confidence.

One last thing, even if someone rejected it, that could also mean SC spent time after its rejection correcting any issues related to the rejection and therefore it is now in great shape.

My point is you really can't come to any specific conclusion about the VIN # other than when it was manufactured.

All excellent points. I just take a look at the people posting before they get their trucks and after - when many take a 'leave of absence' from the forum to just enjoy their CT's. I have a Sept 2021 build Model S Plaid so am no stranger to bits falling off, cost of getting in early. Luckily my SC has been quite good to deal with and we have other vehicles at home so I'm not terribly concerned about ramp-up issues. Planning to charge ahead into the Cybervoid, wish me luck!

Can I ask which NJ SC you are going to ? This will be my first Tesla, and was curious if you had experience with Cherry Hill.

Lawrenceville/Princeton. Have taken delivery of two used Teslas (X, S) there as well. No experience with Cherry Hill.

I just found the Cybertruck in the holding lot, it was built on 5/13. With shipping time from Texas, not sure how much fresher it can get.

Not yet. I stopped by the Service Center. The 'Cybertruck guy' was doing a delivery but they looked up my info and said they would let him know I was ready and I'll get some kind of message - guessing text or via the app.

My opinion from my not so diligent visits to this forum is that long term shareholders get a break on order-to-vin time. It seems like several have reported the same thing during the last 3 months. Just an observation. I didn't count how many.

scheduled for delivery this Friday. If it happens, that’s seven days from configuration to delivery. Hard to beat that!

Update, got a call saying I should not have been able to schedule for Friday as no slots are open. Pushed back to Monday dragging out my timeline to 10 days from initial configuration email to delivery if it happens then.
