I'm getting these black spots on the sides, mostly on the rear quarter, mostly on the driver side, and they seem to occur after going thru a car wash. They do not come off easily, but do come off. It appears to be from one of the chemicals in the car wash, but not sure yet if it's from the tires, or gaskets or the windshield swiper, or other. Wondering if other owners are having the same issue.

That’s tire shine spinning off.
Probably this. Stainless steel will always look smudgy somewhere, but it's not a big deal and will eventually go away and some other stain will replace it. Good thing it's a truck and looks good dirty!!

This.

I had those spots after I got home from the SC. I haven’t washed or reapplied any tire dressing since delivery and no more spots.

Microfiber cloth sprayed with Sprayway glass cleaner then wipe away. Should clean it right up.

Yep tireshine, request no tire shine when doing through the car wash or get mudflaps. Or if you have a towel/rag, wipe the tires down to get the excess off.

Same thing happened when I drove away from Tesla. The tint place I went straight to said "you know what that is" and proceeded to educate me.

I wipe the sides of all the tires now after the car wash. Completely eliminates this and the tires stay shiny (if you want that). I don't care, so I plan to downgrade my Car Wash subscription so I don't get this anymore.

Those spots are not black, but they are from the Tire shine at your car wash.

Yep, it was the tire shine. Went back to the car wash, turned off the tire shine, no more spots.

I also downgraded my car wash to no tire shine. But one time I had tire shine on the truck. Didn’t notice it and drove off and then had the spots all up and down the side of the truck went back to the car wash and told the guy he said sorry about that. Sometimes we get the order mixed up and you got somebody else’s wash.

So if you just drive through and drive off, pull over and check real quick cause you might need to wipe your tires down. The car wash personnel also told me they would help to wipe the tires down.

I have yet to go through a car wash. How much in terms of bug gut stains (or other road gunk stains) remain on the truck after going through the car wash? I didn’t think sprayway (or windex) would remove the stains and that only BKF would do that? No?
