GPS drifted way off and now thinks I’m 2 miles away

We were driving in the truck when suddenly the GPS location drifted away from our actually location, snapped back, then did it again. It kept drifting further and further away from our actual location. And now is permanently heating the truck is located 2 miles away from here. What gives?

Pretty normal for GPS in cities, the signal gets blocked and/or bounces off buildings. Occurs on phones as well.

FWIW, same thing happened in 2018 with my model 3, turned out to be a faulty connector on the GPS antenna, fixed by mobile service.

Ah so I'm not the only! @jayv06 thats exactly what I starting seeing and it just got progressively worse. I made an appointment but they're making me bring the truck into a service center, I suspect because there are other service bulletins and what not they want to take care of.

I have seen this on my truck as well. Not in a city at all. Have noticed it on different software versions. If it get really annoying I will put in a service request. Mine is normally off just enough to make it think I am on the other side of the road or close enough I can figure it out.

Just started for me today!!! I know setting any service appt will be a full month before getting in there, anyone tried a soft reset??? It’s so far off it’s crazy, can’t imagine it’s a hardware issue if everyone’s just started today basically

Mine started yesterday, it thinks I'm 40 miles or so from where I am, was hoping it would fix itself overnight, but it didn't. I will soft reboot when I get home tonight to see if that fixes it. Otherwise great truck with no other issues!
I actually like driving to and from work now. I hate being there, but the drive there and home is sure enjoyable!

So I just noticed this when I used my phone (Apple Maps) to go somewhere, see attached, also, yeah first issue for me, been perfect since driving it off the lot, knock on wood .. maybe global GPS issue??

I did try several soft resets to no avail, and its been like this for at least 2 days now. Interesting that others are having a similar issue. Tesla service technician asked for more details, and I do think its interesting that they want me to bring it into the center for "parts".

I had this same issue except I was able to verify the truck was not able to lock onto any satellites, not just the American gps ones.

not sure which of the two fixed it but I did the following.

full power down over night and also texted my service advisor if they could poke it remotely. Either way it was fixed the next day.
