$59k CT delivered 6/26/26

It was a smart business move to offer one cab and one bed configuration. It's very reminiscent of Ford's early days stating to customers that they can pick any color as long as it's black.

This helps reduce assembly labor costs, minimizes capital costs and positively affects economies of scale. I believe this is why they can scale up to 125,000 units per year rather quickly.

Tesla obviously learned many lessons from the Model 3 "production hell" debacle.

I suspect that there are more buyers balking at the huge increase in price than those who cannot afford the price. It doesn't really matter if they buy or not; that is their choice. I have to say that I am more than pleased with my CT and that pleasure was worth $20K.
Yeah. I think we all are a bit butt-hurt that Elon didn't deliver the truck he promised for the price he promised. Adding a $20K premium for early delivery on top of that is a really hard pill to swallow. However, there is another voice, which I think may actually be the more rational voice, that is mumbling "..but it is pretty awesome"

OP here.... putting his money where his mouth is.... just pulled the trigger on a FS AWD, white decor, with 35" AT tires. Expected delivery (Virginia) June-September.

RN113210...
Invite received 5/29/24. Configured 6/18/24.

The containment hold for the wiper motor is a wildcard. But that aside, it wouldn't shock me if I received a VIN pretty quickly. Fingers crossed.

I expect I'm one of the very few choosing the FS this late in the game, with the cessation of that series imminent and the non-FS general production trucks soon to commence. Like I said earlier, though, I don't think there's a wrong decision here. Just different puts and takes.

Here's (virtual toast) to everyone getting the CT they want!

I think the lifetime FSD is the biggest sleeper.. sure it isn’t even on the truck right now, but once FSD is unsupervised (it will get there and sooner than many people think), then 8k is a BARGAIN..
my two cents
[add edit]. Like Elon said, FSD will be like AirBnB eventually, so you could conceivably make $500-1k a month with it unsupervised.. all of a sudden, 8k is pittance what it is worth
Exactly - plus there's no telling what the price will be (or even if it's available in non-subscription form) once you're able to order a non-FS truck. And the further down the list you are the greater the chances of a change there.

Note I do expect Tesla to honor the FSD price locked in at reservation time, but not everyone checked that box (myself included). And the more recently you made your reservation the higher the price that was locked in with it not even being an option the past couple of years. It could be 2-3 years before then work through the reservation list even with a larger percentage of cancellations.

Agreed. All points. I want the FS when I get invited possibly this week. I found out this week I may not be able to sell my 3 for enough to pay for the 100k. Right now it is lower than I anticipated (along with paying off the loan on it).. ?

I don't believe Tesla can afford to price the AWD non-FS trucks above the $80k federal tax credit cap. They would lose thousands of potential Cybertruck sales.

Tesla has advertised and publicly stated the AWD is $79990 and will 100% qualify for the full $7500 tax credit.

So… let’s do some basic math

Current AWD FS: $99990
Non-FS AWD $79990- $7500= $72499
Savings: $27500 so far

Now for the assumptions:

1. 20" Cyber Wheels w/35" AT Tires: $4,000 Rebuttal: We can buy later and have 2 sets of wheels/tires. One for highway driving and one for when we wanna do some trails. Or, I can go aftermarket and spend the same money and get a better wheel/tire combo, maybe even go to 37’s for an even better trail experience.
Savings: down to $23500 if I spend $4000 on an “off-road” option.

2. White Decor: $1,000
Rebuttal: I personally prefer the stealth grey after seeing the white in person and having driven one around for awhile. So I’ll save the $1000.
Savings $23500- no change

3. FSD: $7,000 - $8,000 (can be dismissed since it can be bought later)
Rebuttal: FSD is currently $8000 and software does not count against the tax credit MSRP pricing model, so it can be added penalty free. Also have the option to add it for $99/mo once it Becomes available for Cybertruck.
Savings $15500 assuming FSD is added during purchase .

4. Premium Connectivity will Require Subscription ($100 $10/mo)
Rebuttal: I’d have to keep the truck for 129 years to spend the savings so far on premium connectivity. I’ll spend the $10/mo.

5. Premium Audio: $1,000
Rebuttal: standard on AWD and Cyberbest

7. Heated/Cooled Ventilated Front Seats: $1,000
Rebuttal: standard on AWD and Cyberbest

8. “Premium Accessories”
Rebuttal: PASS- not worth the hype

so in closing…yeah I think the $20k premium for FS was a scam. That’s just my opinion
A lot of us won't qualify for the federal tax credit due to making too much income.

I just don't see a lot of value in the foundation series.... and my comment on people showing off is the number of people who blast social media with the newest wrap they put on their cybertruck, or how they used it as a "real truck" by putting a few bags of garden mulch in the back of it.

When the CT is available for $72,500 after tax credit for most consumers Tesla is going to sell a LOT more of them... then after that round dries up they will probably increase the range somewhat, I think for the CT 400-420 miles is probably the sweet spot but I don't expect to happen till 2026 at the earliest.

True. But the biggest savings of having minimal configurations is that it makes it much more efficient to get the finished vehicles to customers when they are all mostly the same. It has to do with shipping logistics and reducing the number of vehicles that are unsold at any point in time. This is a much more difficult thing than many realize.

All over the country there are dealership lots full of trucks of every concievable configuration. The buyers of those trucks have to cover the interest the dealerships pay on that stock, the lighting and security for the lots (and also the property taxes and insurance), all the extra washing that is required from having vehicles sitting out in the weather and having to keep them presentable, etc. It's an inefficient system (but it does allow for more variety). The problem is, many new truck buyer wannabes can't really afford all those inefficiencies.

American vehicle buyers generally want instant gratification because they are impatient. They don’t want to place an order and then wait months and months for delivery, hence the variety on new car lots.

The day you will be sitting in your truck (which will be pretty soon) .. you will not regret , I was in same boat , slept on the invite for 10 days then 1 day finally I just hit the ORDER button ... I cannot wait until 2026 (my spot in the normal queue) ... who know by then how many ups and downs will be there ... still nervous on the teething issues of CT ... but I love my CT ... I literally wait for every occasion to drive it ... be ready (prepare yourself & family) to be clicked on every traffic lights ..

I dropped my kid the other day at school , the soccer game literally stopped ... haha

these people are my ideal sellers. they get bored quickly and move on to shiny new things. i buy used clothing and stuff online, that look fantastic or barely used for bottom dollars. and i dont care that they are used.
