Seems like a barrel to usb c cable is coming soon. That Anker seems much more informative but the Renology has 3 times more capacity.

Received the Starlink Mini today. Posting a few photos I wish I saw before to get a better sense of how it might all come together.

The barrel connectors on the bottom of the dish and wall plug

The dish is very sensitive to the tilt and orientation of the device. The app will complain if it's not correct and will give you real time feedback as you move it

Putting it on the tonneau like I did will not work as it kept complaining about the tilt.

I then tried placing it in the frunk, just because and got 64/4.8. Line of sight would have been partially blocked by the hood.

Placing it out in the open grass at the end I was able to get 108/3.1.

When the dish sank a bit as the speed test was running the speed dramatically dropped off.
I wonder if hardware version 5 will include starlink connectivity?

I have had a regular StarLink for a long time, got the mini invite also. But for 50gb, $30 a month, and a whopping $599 for hardware - seems really overpriced, unless you really need to go somewhere you know has no mobile service.

25-35mbps while on highway at 80 mph. Traveled north and south. Zero hiccups streaming 4k YouTube. Wire tucks in and hides nicely under floor mat. Just used 3M command strips to test it out.

I added it as an optional add on for my RV renters. Many of them go to places without signal.

It should be noted the WiFi cut out at some point. Not sure if it was a fluke or I got cut off by the overlords. Will have to do more testing.

Is an invite from Starlink the only way to purchase Starlink Mini at this point?

This is really cool. Kids these days will have no idea what it was like to go on long road trips with no internet of any kind. Though I'm more excited about being able to work while driving along on the long, boring stretches of highway. Well, not *ME* driving and working at the same time. That would be... dangerous, haha. But you get the idea. Currently, I have to use cellular for that and it's sloooooooow with T-Mobile, especially outside of most cities.

Just a tidbit of info. This appears to be a PORTABLE device and NOT A MOBILE device.

What's the difference? It's the ability to twist and turn. When driving, it has to be able to keep the correct orientation.

Cool mount location. Although he's using 3M tape ?

It works just fine misoriented you just won’t get optimal speed. It seems they will detect you in motion though and cut you off just because.

I believe that the correct answer is that it may work with degraded performance in many areas.

But there are probably a number of areas in which it won't be able to communicate.

Just received the slant mount. Figured I could use the new plate and pole for other mounting solutions.
