How bad do you all think this looks. The amount of people asking me questions about my truck and quality was high before this happened and my response can’t be “it’s been perfect” anymore. Also how bad does it look in general, I had a home service tomorrow to fix it but they pushed it out three weeks because the part isn’t in yet!?! Do I just leave my truck sitting that long? I’ve been driving the MY again, and man this car feels tiny now still really fun to drive but I miss my truck! Should I cover it somehow and with what? ?

This is one of the two new recalls (sail applique and wiper motor).

serious answer: drive in high ride height.

Why?

Most people won't be able to see it except from directly behind the vehicle.

Other answer, run a couple of strips of black Gorilla tape, doubt most people would notice and it won't come off.

Tell people that as you were running into a burning buidling to save orphans, space aliens with rabies attacked and you had to rip of the sail to fend them off.

They cut your arm in the melee, you suffered a few wounds, but you didn't do anything that a normal person wouldn't have done.

Tesla was so inspired by your act of heroism, they are replacing the sail as soon as a piece arrives.

or you couldn't care less what other people think.

The former sounds pretty cool though.

I felt that way but looks like water can get in there and shouldn’t be in there. And it’s been raining pretty regularly here.

^^^This. Gorilla tape it until the part comes in.

No. Really, you don't want to put an extra strong adhesive tape there. Gorilla tape (Maybe the strongest and most sticky duct tape) is intended for permanent applications. It will leave a difficult to remove residue of adhesive and reinforcement threads.

Use this instead; it will hold very tightly, yet it will peel off easily when pulled at an acute angle and will leave little or no residue:
